  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quick question about Scarlet 2/3" 1080p @ 60fps. Is this from 1 to 60 fps (anywhere in between) selectable or are there a select number of options, like 24/25/50/60 frames only?

Moreover, speaking for myself, even though I did not purchase a Red One Camera body I have purchased what I can afford, such as Red lenses and other accessories building up to the purchase of a Red One camera body. Now I find myself excluded from the epic-x trade-in incentive because I could not make the deadline on the Red Camera body. I do not think this holds true to the notion that Red introduced the epic-x trade in to reward those who supported the company.

I don’t mean to be the voice of dissent in what is a very exciting time for most, but I felt that I needed to express my thoughts on this particular matter.

yeah that's a bummer, I feel your pain, there's probably a few people in your position.
Red has to draw the line somewhere I guess, maybe you could plead your case to RED if you've spent a bit of dosh...

Definitely says "VC" there, my guess is Vibration Control... as far as the interesting distance markings go, maybe there's an "auto assisted manual focusing mode" where the autofocus is only used to display a suggestion overlaid on top of the scale, not the actual focus?

You could i.e. touch a position in the LCD, get the autofocus to instantly switch the indicator there, then perform a manual focus pull to that mark?

Do the distance numbers on the lens light up? The 3'6" is in RED, while the other numbers are in white...

You guys have pulled off a pretty amazing feat...So much in so short a time. Very impressive. I'm not sure when you guys sleep, but you deserve a good night's rest after the last couple of days...I mean the last couple of years.

I'm sure I'll have to go over to Off Hollywood to play with their Tattoo when they get it.

With #2423, am I out of the running for a Tattoo? I'm guessing you'll have under a 100 of those to beta test...probably more like 50...

Hi,

No, you have 4 options and 30 days to decide. If an option is not selected you forfeit your trade in allowance.

Wow. Fantastic news, RED crew.

Too much great features, smart solutions and elements to comment all of them, but all this and 5K RAW in your hands @ 2.7 Kg is totally amazing.

Love the tool-less Shoulder Rig and Gunner config. Looks like Gunner is a retractable handle adjustment rig. Very nice.

The Epic news are a big for all RED users, especially the tattooed ones...
It all sounds like a wonderful plan, wish i was there...

As a future Scarlet owner, I wish we had more news about her, but some info did come out, and it sounds great, release order & FLUTs included.
I was one of those that thought RED should take more time to make Scarlet right, in their own pace - just make it right, with the best features inside.
Looks like they are doing just that.
I just wish we knew the rest of the Scarlet news would come in a month. It would be better for our production plans.
If the target is having exceptional cinema cameras, which is certainly the case, we just have to wait longer for it.....

I hope the ordering scheme will be good and as painless as possible...

Ok, so I will go on record and say that if Red is willing to let me get a shot at a TATTOO Epic-X to beta-test (I'm camera #378 so I have some chance, and the money's ready to go), I will get the kanji for Red 赤 tattooed on me for real somewhere (this would be my first tattoo, in both senses of the word!).

Visceral Psyche had the first Red One in Japan and we've been pushing the envelope here ever since. We'd like to continue that example with the Epic-X and are ready to give a lot of feedback from a country that operates the camera rather differently to the traditional Hollywood style.

We're pretty much the goto guys here for all things Red and have helped several other Red owners fix their own cameras where the local service centre couldn't ;)

Plus if you open up one of the later RedDrives (not recommended!) you'll see that I had some early input into making the original design better.... :)

Also beta testing Adobe Premiere CS5 so early access to Epic's data can help both sides get their respective products working out of the box together as soon as possible.

Red Gunner = combination of shoulder rig with 1 handle, start stop etc. + a mic for documentary-style shooting?

Start saving (or talking to your bank) now. You'll have at least 3 months, probably 4, and maybe 6 by the time you really have to put it down. Shouldn't be that hard to do. Really, if you can't do it in that time, you might be a lot better off going Stage 3 and saving another $9K.
 
Can anyone give more light into the FLUT Colour advancement? I have a general idea what it is all about but would love to know more!

Yes, Mark, you beat me to it. Really great that they have made LDS work. I can only assume that they reverse-engineered. I can't imagine that Arri opened up the protocol, but who knows?

FIRST: Led me say; That ALL that has been shown yesterday and in the days and month to follow, it’s just simply GREAT.

SECOND: I’ll be in the last Stage, STAGE FOUR; I hope the Camera with the S35 Mysterium X Brain will have REDCODE 250 as well. All the best to the “TATTOO PEOPLE” you’re rally in the Red “A List”! We’re who are in Stage Four; are lucky to come after Stages Two, and Three.

THIRD: The LDS and /i Data enabled PL Mount is just simply great for those that want to use the Arri/Zeiss Master Prime Lenses, I hope they fit the Red Matt Box.

FOURTH: On the question of the Leica “M” lenses, it would really be good to have a Red Mount for these fine lenses, so they can work with the S35 as well as the FF35.

FIFTH: To Jim, Jarred, Stuart, Graeme, Deanan, and the rest of the entire Red Team; “Keep-Up” the “Good-Work”!

great options...

one feedback.

it would be totally cool for me when the tatoo cams would be given only to the guys in california/ny and britain.

imho this would be the best and fastest way to go through beta stage...from a logistic pov.

direct support etc.

and some additional tattoo cams in some countries/ US areas which are

hot and wet: jungle style
desert, dry and really damn hot)
mountains, some extreme cold areas.
