I remember the day I put my reservation in for a RED ONE. I was DPing a short film, with an HvX200, Redrock micro M2 adapter. The downside is that my M2 adapter and lenses were stuck at Sundace, so I had to rent. And it was a ghetto rig, with minolta lenses, and the lens mount was taped together.

After the first day, I went home, and put down $1000 deposit.

Upgraded to Epic-X Dragon in 2014 $18,000.Total paid $25,100.Even today brand new Dragon costs $26.000.

That is an incredible deal and it has been a great journey for me. I still have my Red One and it just returned to shoot a short film for a friend of mine. (It does sit in the closet collecting dust other than that) almost time to pull it out and put it on the shelf for cinematic history's sake.

Jim, I love the upgrade program. I have done very well with it, and without it I kind of doubt I would be where I am. The impossibility for me to own a good camera was significant. Money turmoil on a multi generation level, sickness in a country with the worst health system in the first world, many things stood between me and owning a decent camera. I laugh when I tell people I wanted a $3,000 dollar fixed lens camera. I own over $110,000 of the top cameras in the world now and growing now, and without the upgrade program I doubt I would of been able to do this, early in my career. I can't even start to thank you is the truth, and all the people at Red for what you have done for me. I cannot wait for you to take us to even more insane specs, whether its larger sensors, faster frame rates, you guys have changed the equation for quality to price and for once the little guys can create the means of production. Its like the friggin model T of cinema bro, thanks!
 
My life has changed dramatically in the 3 years and 3 months it's been since I got my original Scarlet. My only regret has been that I wasn't one of the first to get a RED ONE. Very excited to see what's coming next.

I really love the dsmc concept, i started with a scarlet and now have 2 dragons & monochrome epic - aside from the generous upgrade offers I have been able to reuse the camera modules through this process also. I am really looking forward to the new modular approach for my dragons, and will continue to use my monochrome epic with the old modular approach for decades to come.

I couldn't be more grateful to RED, Jim, Jarred. What an incredible camera and bold company philosophy. Oh and while I'm at it a shout out to Kelly and Brent. You guys rock too. Hopefully we'll catch up a NAB and I look forward to where you take us next.
 
I never forget that it was Red that gave us, the small, independent filmmakers/content creators, the possibility to "compete" with the big boys. Sincerely, the Hollywood Lobby can stick with its elitist gear and partnerships. Red Cameras have made Hollywood blockbusters, true, but what is hardly spoken of are the countless of fantastic films/documentaries/commercials/music videos and even video art that were done throughout the world with them. Inarritu said it well in his acceptance speech- the ultimate judge of quality and if a film is "worthy" is if it survives the test of time. One thing I am certain: Red, independently of how it develops into the future, is already part of the History of Cinema, not only in the US, but in the World. Keep it up, Jim, Jarred and Red Team!
 
This is a world where investing in a digital cinema camera pays.
