  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Now Shipping. Sidewinder. Broadcast Module. Switchblade.

Since RELs customer orders the same time as everyone else we allocate accordlingly to get units out. Unfortunately we can't make transit time any quicker from HQ to REL's office.

hopefully European customers wont be at the back of the line once more...

Just got shipping notification for my 3 Sidewinders, now anxiously awaiting shipment of the Switchblade that was ordered in June. Thanks, fellas!

Received our Sidewinder a couple of days ago - order placed in April/May.

Great tool, already in our Epic case - the tools were a little stiff so a tiny adjustment was needed so that when you try to get one tool the rest on that side don't follow, otherwise very happy with it.

We also got our Sidewinder one week ago.
Ists a really good tool.
One thing, which is not so good. If you have your 1/4" Screws on the sides, it doesn't fit into the small bag.

While the holes on the tool can be used for storage.... We see it more as when you are removing one, instead of putting it on a table (and maybe losing it), you pop it in the tool a few threads before you put it back on the camera gear.

My sidewinder arrived just in time to break the camera down to it's brain, so it can home and learn to fly. This small tool is so awesome.

Have you seen our space? Not only do we even not have the square footage to even consider it - there is also wondering why we'd need it. If you order product within US for next day delivery, does it matter if it ships from Irvine or NYC?

I was joking! Sorry it didn't go through. I was paraphrasing a joke...

Agreed on all points.

Arrived today. It's great. But...

Brent, do you know if the next firmware will allow independent function control via the sidewinder? Right now it's basically acting like a side handle, rather than an independent control?

Hey Isaac,
I have one of these on order so can't wait to get it but am I reading your post right … you can't control the camera with it by using its buttons and dial????

The next beta version will offer full independent control of the camera via the Switchblade.

You can use every button but the mode bottom. Next firmware is suppose to unlock the modes function, until then you must look at the RED touch when using the dials and bottons.

You can, but as Isaac mentioned it works like the Side Handle and navigates the menus on the LCD Touch or whatever monitor. I didn't order one yet, but I was asked this question last week when the first few units shipped. It sounds like there's an update coming with the next firmware update, but I have no real knowledge of what that will contain.

What Isaac and likely others were expecting was independent navigation of the menus using the Switchblade's LCD screen and likely scrolling through choices.

*edit - See Matthew's post above. He's fast :)

Sorry I also mixed up the names in my post, which is why I hate the sidewinder/switchblade naming confusion.

But correct the idea is that I want to control the camera without a monitor. That way I can quickly set FPS, Resolution, ISO, and color temp. It sounds like that's obviously coming, which turns the switchblade from essentially a status read out, into a much more ALEXA-like controller for us ACs.
