  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

November 3rd...

This is quite a lot to take in, and we knew it would happen soon, it will be very emotional when I hold my Scarlet, after so long of talking about it...

Its quite a surreal feeling.

Another question for Jarred is, since you cleared this in the "scarlet" thread- that most accessories are interchangeable between Scarlet and Epic- would it be wiser to order the side handle, the Red Volts, Redmotes, etc. NOW? Is there a risk of "sold out" of these essential acessories at November 3rd ordering?

This would be quite helpful...

I think many of us would love a "safe to buy" list of things that will compatible for RED's entire line. RED Mags and RED Volts should at least be a safe bet.

Take a look at the RED store now. It already tells you which parts are compatible with what cameras.

Looking back now, the 3K for $3k thing is actually pretty true for us in Australia - Pretty much in line with every price increase mentioned thus far has been in line with increases in the Australian dollar. So whether RED released it when they first started talking 3K for $3k or now, will actually cost about the same for us :)

Or putting it another way, we are getting all the extras the originally planned Scarlet didn't have, for the same price - Assuming it hasn't jumped significantly again.

From memory we've come a long way from the 3K for $3K. But then, so has the camera!

I predict RED will announce on November 3rd, a new 30 megapixel full frame DSLR with full Canon EOS lens compatibility for $1,995.00 Called the RD Mark I. And can be controlled by the redmote.

I dont think there is anythink as this on RED ROAD map....This prediction maybe true for Canon announcement ie maybe 5D Mark III with clean video feed , 2K raw recording.:eek6:

It starts in Hollywood - this is the photocopier ALL the stars use :)

If the annoucement turns out to be a photocopier then it will be the biggest joke of the century for cinematographers all around the world. But since RED has also announced that details of SCARLET will be announced on the same day , then we can assume that RED
has an insider information on whats happening from canon on that auspicious day of November...and it will be a new DSLR ...

I don't think RED are very interested in still cameras - the idea of DSMC is being able to extract full quality stills out of motion!

Dear RED - from the look of things in this post it seems like everyone is in the same boat i.e. "first come - first serve", but please clarify if existing RED ONE owners will have priority over new customers as stated in question #3 by Joseph Hutson previously:

I think a lot of customers would like to know this. I'm in Stage 2 for Epic-X so I have no place in this line, but I think a lot of people would like to know since they've been promised a "short window of priority" on the Scarlet packages.

Jarred explains in the SCARLET... thread:

NEIL ANDREW BATES; said:
From the way Jarred said it, I'd take that to mean anyone, Red1 owner, Epic owner, canon owner, dog owner, nothing owner. First to order get theirs first, everyone else after the one in front. So long as they haven't done something to seriously piss RED off

Yes... a bit of a different approach this time. We are going to take care of the guys that have offered support along the way. The guys that, even though this road has been long, kept it together and had a little faith. The good attitude guys. Apart from those who we will select as we go along, it will be first come first serve..

Except of course the people on the Shit List.. Those guys go to the very back of the line, or off the line completely. Life is too short.

I'm absolutely stoked by this news and the other threads. Ordering on November 3rd! I've had months of bank-account Russian Roulette trying to figure out whether to stick to the Scarlet plan or go Epic. I'm still undecided, but by November 3rd I'll know exactly what to do.

Thanks for the update Jim, Jarred & Team Red!
