You'll do fine with good quality 16mm and Super 16mm lenses in PL mount - a Canon 8-64 or 11-138 ? I've got an Angenieux 16-44 T1.3 on ice for when the 2/3 inch Scarlet ships. As tempting as a well priced, sensor specific, servo driven, nifty electronic smart lenses might be - at heart I'm not a fixed lens kind of guy.

I'm looking forward to playing with some vintage glass too. Cooke 9-50mm and Angie 12-240 will be my main lenses, but I also have a rare Taylor Hobson Monital 8-24mm f1.6 that looks interesting for low light and a 5mm f1.5 ultra-wide Elgeet-Navitar. :thumbup1:

Well focal length isn't dependent on imager size, field of view is. I know this sounds a bit pedantic, but it's good to understand the difference. The equivalent field of view to FF35 would be the focal length times 3.93.

Ok, maybe I caught this conversation in the middle but... Actually, that's pretty spot on.

People need to understand that focal lengths are focal lengths and that they mean different FOV on different sensor sizes.

Few questions i thought of over the weekend:
>Will there be a way to get a monitor signal out in 4:3? I know it was mentioned you can choose your monitor resolution settings. not sure if it covers 4:3 though.
>Also, how is the camera & recording drive (SSD/REDdrive)for extended periods of continuious recording? I'm planning to use a scarlet for recording meetings that can range from 1 hour up to 3 or 4 hours.

Scarlet 2/3" Fixed package comes with REDVolt battery and travel charger.

Curious as to where the battery goes as there was no mention of side handle or battery module included.

I believe that the official word was that they hadn't decided where the battery will go - just that it is included in the package. We'll find out soon enough where it's going.

My best guess (that's all it's good for) is if you look at the side by side picture of the fixed and interchangeable, notice how the fixed has 6 vent holes as opposed to 5 on the interchangeable (top of camera).

The fixed also has a bit more length (on the back) from what it looks like, I would assume that the battery would go underneath in that extra length?

As for the handle I think it's there cause it looks cool (it convinces me that I need one), I mean there's no pictures of the complete fixed package. I also wouldn't be surprised if the camera looks completely different from the one I hope to hold in my hands by the end of Q2.

Hey Cid, I think Stephen's previous post was correct. Jarred stated they were still working out exactly what the total fixed package will include. But it is safe to assume it will include some sort of battery solution, whether that be a side handle, module or something else because Jarred/Jim did state it will be ready to shoot... but as of yet still unknown.

The extra length you are noticing has to to with the optics/mechanicals of the fixed lens. There was a post by Jarred a couple months back that had a picture of the lens itself and it extends quite significantly into the body of the fixed scarlet which required some extra room to move the sensor back.

I haven't seen any word on it yet but... a mini zoom? I would love a mini zoom lens, can you imagine the scarlet (not fixed) with a mini zoom lens.
