  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nobody knows if the RED server will survive the November 3rd onslaught? If it does not would it not be good to follow this list of orders. Only mark your name down if you categorically are willing to place an order but you are defeated by technology and it is just not possible.

Lets keep a count of this?

I will go first. Package 2A

Either Package 2/3rds 1. Scarlet Package
S35 1A. Scarlet Package


Or Package 2 2'3rds. Scarlet
Redmote
Bomb EVF
Touchscreen
Redbrick
SSD Pack
Package 2A S35 As above

Package 3 2/3rd. Brain only
3A S35. Brain only

With you saying you will order pick either package 1 or package 2 or package 3

I will go for package 2A. This is based purely on a camera with no fixed lens which is how I believe it will be offered.

Jim if it all goes '_its up' through pressure on the system is this pre order cool?

I don't think this will work.. and I am sure they upgraded to make it a less painful time as the last announcement of RCX Pro.
 
Agreed. Don't let the paranoia get to you. They updated the servers and know what their doing. We also have absolutely no idea of what packages will be available to order. There could be 0, there could be 15.

Back orders will be inevitable if Scarlet does indeed tap into the prosumer market. But it won't be the end of the world. I could get interesting if there are 5,000+ units sold on day one though. Red's got a plan. Let them execute it.
 
Whilst I understand your fear, we have no idea what the camera will be, what packages will be offered, and at what price. Jarred has it in hand but if it goes tits up, people will just have to deal with it. I don't see this working at all unless it is sanctioned by RED.

But I think we are in a completely new sphere here. It really could all crash and someone who has never been on this site could purchase a camera over someone who has followed the RED mantra for years - that is not fair?
 
Hey even if it all goes smoothly with no hick ups there is no harm done by sticking your name down here? It possibly is like a bit of 'insurance of commitment' if ever questioned.

I'm sure it will be a well orchestrated and dignified event, Jim isn't going to throw a meaty bone in the middle of the room and back away. Jim's too classy for that - isn't he, Jarred? ( :

Don't really see why it matters how long you've been waiting or following reduser. As long as you have the means and have ponied up, you should be able to get. Only exception in my mind would be if the first one goes out for a Will It Blend commercial :)

You sound like a really nice guy Iain. Good on you for caring about the guys who have been stalwarts at scarlet user and the like.

But I do agree with Bruce.

FWIW I have followed Scarlet since the first, irrespective of only a recent forum membership.
3 kids, multiple businesses, I just sent the odd email inquiry to RED asking for any Scarlet news and whether there was any chance for whatever next project I was working on... But it doesn't matter how long I have dreamed of a RED ONE, been in love with RED's vision and praying for the would be Scarlets. We are all equal. And if some passionate, young visionary film student gets a scarlet before me, just because I could't get on RED store from regional Australia, then you know what, hey, good for him, and I'll send him a message saying so, make friends...
Then track him down, gut him like a fish, and shoot my feature with his scarlet and feed him to my actors!!!!

I'm sorry Iain, nice try but I don't think this is going to fly I'm afraid. Nobody outside RED's inner circle knows what Scarlet will be, if and what packages might appear and what it all might cost. RED have said that there are no stages/lists for Scarlet, only delivery in order priority (save for a select few)........ and ordering is through RED not RED User :).
