  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nothing but problems on set of a Music video.

OK!

There was plenty of reasons to upgrade for build 16 and by the time Big Lu did so most issues with it had been straightened out.

I don't think it's right to go on a fit against that, since there can be a million reasons for doing so. As he states they were fully aware of the build being beta etc.

Unfortunately he had other issues that led to camera breakdown, this was not really a 16 issue. The camera got scrambled for other reasons and that was what made him feel cheated and therefor he took out his frustration in this forum. In doing so he realized that maybe it was a little to strong especially since he can't back up his allegations (for whatever reasons).

So why don't you guys go and chill and leave this alone, this is getting really booooring.

I screwed up one of my screws also exact same problem and same thing.

I used a larger allen wrench not a torx
forced it into the screw and got it out.

Well that's common praxis (see paragraph 5 in link below)?

http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-a-Stripped-Screw

I actually had that problem with my cam in Mexico. Hired a Nikon mount and used it on demand from director/ we had our reasons (special lens). otherwise I would never had considered it. I have several sets of PL mount lenses.

So that's the reason.

Well let's say this...the guys who rented it out mounted it. We wanted to do a few shots with PL lens after we were done with the Nikon lens and my DIT tried to unmount it. Only, he didn't use the same key set as the guys who mounted it...result was that the mount got stuck.

Now was that his fault? No! Was it foolish? No! It happens.

What did we have to do? Well there was two solutions.

We could stop the shoot and send it to RED.

Or we could drill the screws out and continue with PL mount lenses?

We drilled the screws out. Now was that foolish well you can argue about it but the fact is that it's exactly what you do if their stuck. It's also common praxis, as end resort of course.

Now of course the warranty is not valid if you slip but then again you also need to be self sufficient..... A film shoot is about compromises and solving problems. It was either RED doing it, or me.

My cam works today and the shoot was a success so.....

For the leading edge, I am on it.

You sir are on the bleeding edge.

Don't be confused.

Lets be clear:

If you were on the leading edge, you'd be shooting build 16, now wouldn't you?

I guess that would realisticly put 16 users on the cutting edge, and you on the trailing edge. Sad place to be.

Kind of like this thread. Someone should kill it.

I sorry for your budget, but that won't even buy lunches on some of my shoot.

Hmmmmmm

Come to think of it I have not seen the Johnathan LB here lately.

Johnathan did you change your name to Tek?

I think maybe you did! Huh you did!

Really guys, I don't think anyone can be as arrogant and clueless all at the same time. It just has to be the Johnathan LB.

Finner,

I dare you to wear that DH " The HOFF" costume in London.

My last word.

FYI: One of my close associate test camera running beta 16 is in the shop.

Note: RED does not recommend using Build 16 on commercial productions until the formal release of this firmware at the conclusion of the beta test cycles.

Don't cry.

Tek, were you so unfortunate that your parents actually named you tek? Or could it be that you've completely disregarded my post that questions your status in the industry since you cannot even disclose your real name. Unless you disclose your real name, you are nothing more than a troll. Real professionals give their real name and stand by their words with their reputation on the line. You, Sir, are not a professional until you can do that.

That is MY last word.

It won't be your last word. You're too big a douche.
Who cares about your close associate?

I have a shoot coming up in a week. Should I upgrade to B 16 or hold off since I assume it will still be in beta a week from now? Or should I just wait and see?
Jim Jannards response:

If I were you (I am not)... I would make the leap to build 16 as quickly as possible to make sure I was comfortable with the changes before a big shoot. You won't ever want to go back. The only question is whether or not you will have enough time to get used to how it all works.

Jim
Perhaps you should stop attacking customers who listen to the advice of the guy that owns the fucking company.

So is the ability to check your grammar and spelling.

Lets all be nicer to Tek, he is clearly very sensitive. It must be difficult having your first language be cartoon. Do you have any idea how hard he works to construct and maintain his fantasy world? Cut the little smurf some slack.

How ever I was just KILLED on set using build 16.
This week and Last week.
I will talk about this weeks experience.

equipment
2 Red Cameras
music video

artist
2 Grammy award winning artist 11 grammys between the both of them.
Big time DP
His first time working with the RED camera.
So I did my best to make it as painless as possible.

But we experienced once problem after another, I have never had this many problems in such a short time on set.

You are attacking me because you already up graded?

I see...

Hummm....

Hi all,
Could anyone from the R&D dept. confirm/infirm a test being done on Red in higher working temperature conditions (someting like 40 Celsius ambient)?. Most of the problems point to a less-than-ideal cooling solution. I (for one) could not function propperly above 35 degrees let alone concentrate on shooting or even being part of a crew above that temp. Prehaps the design was done in a 20 degrees AC envir? Any ideas?

First warning at 41deg C, shutdown at 46.

Hmmm, my own body gives me the first warning at 30 deg C and shuts down at 34 deg C, so those numbers are purely academic

Hey Shawn,

Hope all is good in your world... the link you posted gives me this response:

"Safari can’t find the server.
Safari can’t open the page “http://www.vietcorcles.com/tekcin” because it can’t find the server “www.vietcorcles.com”."

Just curious that's all...

Seems tekcin claims to be a wannabe filmmaker.

I do not claim, I am a wannabe film maker for over 20 years now.

Until the day I direct one, I remain a wannabe.

I do not claim to be something I am not.

DIT / COLORIST

I have a problem with people who make the RED footage looks like video, and call them self a Colorist.

I am no Colorist, I am no Graphic artist, and I am not yet a director.

I have friends who are real Colorist, and I have too much respect for them to call myself one.

Until the day you have the credit " A film by - Shawn B!+(4", you are a wannabe too.

the right url is http://www.vietcircle.com/tekcin can't even cut a paste?

LOL

This world is very small Shawn Booth.

I will remember you called me a douche for no good reasons.

Stop drinking so much of it, because it's beginning to spill.

I don't remember meeting or saying anything bad about you ever.

I am sorry if I ever said something bad about your mother, or what ever.

I am done with you.
