  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Newer REDCINE-X...

Hey Deanan!

64bit Mac version works OK here, no active RR icon though, but works real time anyway :)

Thanks a lot.

Antoine

That would really be awesome:
1- edit an off-line (in FCP, Avid, Premiere or whatever)
2- import to RedCine-X (through EDL or XML, when they get this last one working)
3- do some CC aproximation (first light)
4- export trimmed .R3D
5- export a timeline (EDL or XML) keeping the metadata (RMD) and linked to the trimmed .R3D
6- open the project in a CC suite linked to the trimmed .R3D (easier to move around facilities) and keeping the CC done in RedCine-X and the full access to our digital negative RAW

That would be a cool, non destructive workflow, don't you think, people?
Any suggestions on how to improve on these preliminary ideas?

Cheers!

Yep this has always been the dream/Feature Request since even before REDCine was even announced. Sounds though like The Foundry's Storm will finally do just this.

Edit.
Open in Storm.
Do quick one light Metadata corrections.
Export trimmed (with handles) r3d files.
Re-Open/link to DPX/TIFF/EXR in editorial with VFX/Final Grade.
Render.

I just did that for the Mac64 and it worked just fine now.

Paul,

Did it come with the Redline installer? Where did you go to download it? I used Jim's link (post #1) but still does not have the installer, so I think this is what is crashing RCX.

Deanan, Driver 1.3.2.2 Firmware 1.1.8.6

Thanks
G

Says latest driver installed, I did the firmware upgrade..Cold boot. Still won't run with new build 64-32 bit. Stills runs build 252 just fine.

I think I need a nap now.

Thanks G

When I push the video out button in ver 361 i dont get the box to choose the signal. It activates always 1080p23.98 rgb

You have to click the Rocket icon to bring up video out settings now. The monitor icon simply turns video out on and off.

So how the heck are people going to get 2 Rockets into a MAC when you have a RAID?
Bottom Slot to Top Slot
1. ATI 4870
2. Red Rocket Card
3. Decklink Blackmagic HD Card
4. ATTO Card.

Totally sucks that Mac's have so few PCI slots- what workarounds are there? (Besides buying a PC Tower) :)

PCIe Expander... Only way.

Hope that the next round of Macs, based on the Intel Sandy Bridge platform, will provide more slots since the host chipset will over many more PCIe lanes... Hoping...

But you lose bandwidth and create bottlenecks I suppose? Which one do you use?

Hey Luis,

Now the latest RCX is embed with REDLINE. So one doesn't have to install REDLINE to run RCX. For other command line usage, REDLINE installer can be found not separately, but in the menu of RCX application.

Tim, say you have Blackmagic and RRs installed in the combination of expansion chassis, although they are installed together, but if you don't use them at the same time, then it won't use up the bandwidth I think.

Also, RR seems to be running fine at x4 lane at all time, I'm not sure, we need to check with Deanan for the details.

I'm sure about that with Storm, but it would be nice to be able to do it with RedCine-X (I'm sure Storm is gonna be a expensive system) and there are only 2 points that I think are not enaled by now in RedCine-X (the ability to export EDLs or XMLs linked to the Trimmed .R3D; and the ability to move those with metadata from RedCine-X to other CC suites with the EDL).

Thanks anyway!

Storm is under $400.

Luis,
Download from Jim's link, then ran the installer INSIDE the REDcine app and I'm in business.

Please try the 1.3.3 driver as that's the one needed for this build. For some reason it appears to not be warning you that the driver needs to updated.
