  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Newer REDCINE-X...

When I push the video out button in ver 361 i dont get the box to choose the signal. It activates always 1080p23.98 rgb

Is there a reason why the number Gamma space options is reduced in the new version? Although REDgamma is the choice for most of the cases, still, the linear or REC709 settings are almost a must in some cases. Especially so, if the image has almost nothing else than a lot of mid grays REDgamma is too steep. If needed can send you some samples and you can try yourself.

Go to preferences and turn on "Show Advanced Controls".

Sorry, if this already been answered.
I tested EDL import with my usual test EDL and all I get is the timeline with all cuts, but no video. I did select proper R3D folder location, still no dice. Any ideas?
Also, I tested the trim R3D function. I was unable to export trimmed R3D in "timeline all clips" mode. Although, I succeeded in "timeline selected clips" mode.

Win 64 wont run, win32 exr output fails?

Win 64 wont run, win32 exr output fails?

Can't run Windows 64bit, errors out at start.

Can run Windows 32bit...
Trying to output a test sequence as exr file format. It fails each time, log shows "Software scaling is currently supported for only RGB16 pixel data. Please try another output format."
Same clip outputs as dpx, tiff, sgi, qt etc no problem.

Doesn't seem to be an option to select 1/2 float for exr?

• REDlog Film added to REDline

Jim

I have tried to use the Mac 64 bit, but always crashes, no matter if the computer is started 32 or 64. If I use the 32 version, it works without a problem.

I need to ask a question about Jim's quote re: Redline update. None of the Mac links download the RedLine application and its installer as it used to do before. Would this be the cause of the crash? Where can I find the new RedLine version with the "REDlog Film added"? :emote_headwall:

Please advise,

Luis

EXR output needs to match the decode resolution. So if it's set to full, it needs to be output at the R3D size. Half res output for half decode etc. At least for now.

Try downloading it again. The original zip had a problem with the files.

For 64bit, what os version are you on?

321 (64-bit, OSX) is constantly crashing on me when trying to export and randomly when selecting folders in the browser. Will send problem report to you guys.

Exporting a timeline with R3D Trim mode

Exporting a timeline with R3D Trim mode

The R3D Trim mode is great! I can easily export single shots from the player or several shots from the bins. What I am looking for is a way to export a timeline with EDL or some sort of way so the timeline in RedCineX can be re-generated linking to the new trimmed R3D files? This would be the ultimate way of handling exports to color grading and VFX. No more need to do first light and exports to DPX/TIFF, just export trimmed (conformed) timeline to your color/vfx software of choice and import edl linked to your new trimmed R3Ds. The key point is that you have access to the digital negative at all time which would be very useful in color/vfx work. Also if there was a way to keep metadata changes made in RedcineX in other software that would be cool, you could then do first pass in RedCinex and continue in other software later.

That would really be awesome:
1- edit an off-line (in FCP, Avid, Premiere or whatever)
2- import to RedCine-X (through EDL or XML, when they get this last one working)
3- do some CC aproximation (first light)
4- export trimmed .R3D
5- export a timeline (EDL or XML) keeping the metadata (RMD) and linked to the trimmed .R3D
6- open the project in a CC suite linked to the trimmed .R3D (easier to move around facilities) and keeping the CC done in RedCine-X and the full access to our digital negative RAW

That would be a cool, non destructive workflow, don't you think, people?
Any suggestions on how to improve on these preliminary ideas?

Cheers!

Can you try downloading again? There was a problem with the download in the first few hours.

Awesome, I will try it shortly.

UPDATE- Yes, that was it, job is running. One note- once I start the render, if I go back to the player to poke around, RC freezes and I need to force quit.

By the way, this update ROCKS!

Can you send the crash reports plus the log file directory to redcinex at red. Thanks.

Deanan,

Can you refresh my mind: where are those saved within the directory?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Go to the help menu in Redcine-x -- there's an option to show the log file and to generate reports.

BTW,

I try to re-download the zip, and it does not have the Redline installer, so I do not think the update that Jim explained could have happened, right?

I just did that for the Mac64 and it worked just fine now.

New build not working

New build not working

Downloaded new build, 64 &32 bit for Windows 7 Pro. It does not see the rocket card. Put build 252 back, and all is well. What gives?
