Sure.PCs is a good thing. You let the competition to fight for you and you build it the way you want. If there wasn't IBM's incredible mistake (who opened the architecture) now a personal computer (IBM, Apple or whatever) would cost a fortune!

apples computers are regular ibm pc.Not really. While OSX does run on a Linux core and Intel chips, it cannot be installed on any ol' PC hardware natively without an insane amount of hacking.
That is, sadly, completly wrong.Regardless, OS 10.5 Leopard will run Windows at native speed via Boot Camp. So when that's released, there'll be no real reason to buy a PC anymore, except the fact that they're cheaper. ;-)
I just downloaded from JK's mirror...that went well. File was saved to my desktop as what appears to be a quicktime file....has the qt wrapper on it and says movie....as all my qt files.
HOWEVER, i double click on the file adn I get an error message as follows:
The movie could not be opened.
The file is not a movie file
I realize you have to have the latest FCP....my current version is: 6.0 i just now did a software update and see i have several FCP items to download such as:
compressor
FC pro update
Color update
I'm downloading now....but I don't think that will fix my error. Any suggestions? Should i try to open in another application or ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Seems every week i learn something new, and then the software gets updated and me OUTDATED.
Thanks.....
well...sorry to be the misfit here...but dropped it to my stuffit expander...and got the following message:
"The file "CTL_Trailer.mov" does not appear to be compressed or encoded. The application "QuickTime Player.app" might be able to open this file. Would you like to try opening the file using "QuickTime Player.app"?
So...tried both yes and no on that option.
When I downloaded the file...it showed up as a QT file on my desktop...so it wants to see it as QT....
I'm not sure how i can have screwed that up.
??
Again, thanks,
Johnny
Add the extension ".gz" to the file (accept when the Finder asks for confirmation). Then try again.
I think that will just compress the file to a gzip archive again. Stuffit also does this with zip. If you add .zip or .gz to the end of any file, Stuffit will automatically compress it.
i just added the extention adn dropped to expander---and won't open. In fact does not even show up in expander....as if nothing at all.
Any other possible remedie?
sorry about the trouble.
i think i'll just try to re-download the whole thing and try again with EXPANDER.
Anyone else able to open with expander?
Thanks again....
