I've done run n' gun with rigs looking just like that and much bigger lenses, like my Cooke 18-100. Up and down stairs, rough terrain, whatever. People who think you can't run n' gun with a RED One need to hit the gym and pump some iron.![]()

I don't want to get involved in the discussion too much since I have my own agenda, but I am a bit surprised so many people think the ET mount is the only possible solution for a problem. Of course you can think of other ways to mount a viewfinder to a camera. I'll be presenting my viewfinder mount when it is ready but here is a preview.

Sander - the EVF is way too far away from the camera body for on-the-shoulder work.

Wholly crap... I hope Ronford has some good lawyers... This is pretty much a perfect lift off the ET design.
What I'd really like to see is a mount that has an adjustable friction that allows for adjustments in tilt while shooting.

First of all.. thats a $8000 tripod/head... second, Frankie isnt as heavy as it visually appears....
Okay, so the RED guys are wearing blue MEDIA vests and ear protection, so I'm going to guess some kind of rocket launch? Nasa?
The ET friction head can be set so that it will tilt with your head and stay put when you pull away.
As far as the other thing you want.... just wait and ET will answer.
Oh and Jay, you can mount the ET bracket from the top for more clearance now.
Lastly,
BLATANT specific design infringement. Patent or not, I will not ever purchase one of these.
For the final "lastly."
Doesn't it look like Ted just saw a car wreck or some such sort in the photo above.
And some people still think you can't run and gun with RED! :weight_lift:
Fine. But why would you want to run and gun? It's a digital cinema camera. Use an ENG rig for run and gun folks!![]()

You can do it quite easily if you can get by with a stripped down rig.Fine. But why would you want to run and gun? It's a digital cinema camera. Use an ENG rig for run and gun folks!![]()

Is it a shameless rip off or is ET & Ronford both fairly drawing from a 3rd party.
But we don't know all the facts on this one.
Commonly with design, its the end user (us) that is the last to see anything, when all alomg these kinds of designs have been milling around in one industry or anther for centuries.
I'd hold off casting judgement until you know all the facts.
