Hi guys, stay cool, if I remember well, I have a wonderfull DOVEtail at home, which looks VERY similar to an ARRI dovetail but was made by ET. A copy? Don't care, it works great and was the right choice.

IMO the controversy appears to be a non issue: The basic design concept is similair to a C stand, look at it! The basic idea has been around since Pre-Ancient Greek times. Go check out ancient engineering and you'll see these obvious designs have been around longer than our recorded history, sorry it's not rocket science. The big difference between now and thousands of years ago is our connector technology [nuts, bolts, etc.] this is the real innovative breakthroughs.
So do we have a big old 'pot calling the kettle' thing here by ET? If there's not a patent, then anyone is free to make'em. I guess whether this is "wrong" or just good business is whether there's a patent in process.
I don't want to get involved in the discussion too much since I have my own agenda, but I am a bit surprised so many people think the ET mount is the only possible solution for a problem. Of course you can think of other ways to mount a viewfinder to a camera. I'll be presenting my viewfinder mount when it is ready but here is a preview.

Just got word from Ronford - their price is identical to ET's.
