  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New REDMAG Pricing

Brook and Steve Freebairn are actually testing the 512s on a big feature right now.. they sent me this photo of a 12 pack and it is pretty damn sexy.

Someday... :)

Thanks Jarred,

You guys are going to love these new mags for high speed work and times when you just need a little more record time. Also, they offload faster too.

Great news Jarred. This helps alot. I do have a question, although a bit premature. How will these cards work with the upcoming Dragon sensor?
Thanks.

Market pricing can be a dangerous game to play... sometimes things don't make sense. Shortages or overages can dramatically change pricing on some chips and not others overnight. Moores law gets a bit twisted. I guess I should go back and say " Temporary" price reduction on the original post.

Very true. If you ever have to go back to original pricing of course there could be whiners. But I love that you're doing this. To me this is "the RED way"! Thanks so much for doing this!
Now I have to see where to rake up that extra dough!

And everyone who has been seriously working with disk space ( same with RAM ), is used to drastic price movements and should understand fully!

You just have to love the company for stuff like this! ;)

Man this is sexy ;)

Has anyone noticed that actually these will be the cheapest media available for the moment? ;) by a lot I might add.... and that is with single media ... hehehehe the world is going upside down here.

EDIT: of course with cheapest I mean "best bang for the buck"!

EDIT2: I just had to do the math: compared to the old price of the 64GB this is almost HALF the price per GB. And even compared to the new price this is still around 2/3 the price. This is amazingly "cheap"!
I wish I could get my hands on two of these.

Next week our raw costs on SSD prices are changing.. so come July 17th, we are lowing prices on RED MAGs. Also, 512GB REDMAGS will begin shipping July 31st.

New REDMAG pricing:

64Gb $725
128GB $1250
256GB $2450
512GB $3900

Hope this helps.. Thanks.

If price goes back way up things may change again.. but for now, this should stick for at least the summer :)

All we need now is

THUNDERBOLT REDSTATION!!!

:reddevil:

Hey Jarred, That's excellent news!

very interested in 512Gb, so echoing Tom's question about increased frame rates

OK, for the next film I'm directing, I want Brook Willard as my DIT. Just to ogle all the unreleased Red stuff he's testing.

Jarred,

I know they're Red, but to me they're GOLD!

Thanks!

The current spot price is just under $1600 per ounce, so the Red Mags aren't solid gold yet. '-)

Amazing news!!! Things like this just makes me so happy :001_wub: you guys continue to make me feel like a little kid on Christmas morning every day... :) thank you!

Frame rates are not a limit of the card.. so its not going to help you get more frame rates. Just less compression at high frame rates.

and of course the faster the card, the faster the offload speeds
