New REDCINE-X...

Does the OpenEXR support overbrights and superblacks? (>1, <0)?

And thank you SO MUCH for r3d trimming. We'll finally be able to get shots over FTP without having to get a 1TB Raid overnighted to us.

Yes.
18% tracks at .18 through the ISOs.
As you increase the ISOs, it goes above 1.0.

This was done with the direction of one of the major vfx facilites that knows exr intimately :)

Great new features including 3D support and TRIM R3D!

I guess this is considered major... :-)

Did I mention... free?

Jim

If ALL you guys did was make REDCINE-X and charge thousands for it, you'd still be a bad ass company... factor in everything else!? Just sayin'.

Thanks for all you've done and continue to do.

Yeah, see post #31 :)

Deanan - many thanks for your response - that capability is hugely useful but I think I am asking also something a bit different.

I understand how to make a 3D pair if I have two existing files. But if my stereo pair is contained within one single R3d file (already side-by-side - we shot with a mirror-box in front of the lens) is there a way to, I guess, split that R3d into RE and LE components and then have the stereoscopic capabilities offered by this splendid new build.

An example of what I am driving at would be found if Stereoscopic Player (if you are familiar with that 3D player). I am able to feed Stereoscopic Player an existing side by side stereo pair which it will then play in a number of formats (interlaced, anaglyph, page-flip, etc.).

It would be enormously helpful to be able to apply all of the 3D capabilities offered by this remarkable new build to single stream stereo files. That is unless these capabilities are already built it and I am simply too dense to see them.

Many thanks,

Finally got around to trying out the new build. And WTF, I'm having trouble with my Rocket. I'm getting nothing via the SDI output, so it seems to be a different issue than What David Cox is reporting. Also having trouble in build 262, so... There may be another issue. Not sure if it's with the Rocket or my AJA Hi5 3G converter.... Meh... working on it now.

Ah, I understand now. We don't have any tools to deal with SbS in camera.
What mirrorbox rig did you use to shoot it with?

Understood.

The mirror box was homebrew but worked remarkably well giving us quite clean S by S 2048X2048 stereo.

Many thanks for all of this.

Are you on the 1.3.3 driver for rocket?

What great news, and being my birthday today, it was like getting a present from the team at RED...thanks for all the good noes today

Are you on the 1.3.3 driver for rocket?

Yes, latest driver and firmware. It seems I have the same issue that David Cox reported above. After restarting the system (full shut down and then power back up), I get no monitor output with build 320 -- just green. All works fine in build 262.

If I play with it a bit in build 320, after a bit it's almost like the Rocket locks up and I can't get on-screen playback to work even after turning the monitor output off. If I go back into build 262 from this point, build 262 won't allow monitor output either and I have to reboot. If I reboot, all is fine in 262. Go into 320 and still doesn't work. If I don't play with it too much and just exit, build 262 will still work.

I'll email you a log file, I'm going to double check this with REDCINE-X 32bit and I'll email a log file or two.

Interesting; if I go to 1/16 quality playback after deactivating the monitor out button, I can get playback in the player window. In any other playback quality, the player is frozen.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks a bunch guys, your hospitality in working around the clock to produce software this robust with this many features for free goes beyond any business model I have participated in.

Jim, your teams generosity is a beautiful effort and I hope we can all give back in some way shape or form. Cheers.

Deanan,

I have emailed you with a log file from both the 32bit and 64bit OSX versions doing the same thing.

I can also confirm David's observation about playback at 1/16th working. After I turn off the monitor out, I still can't play back any clips. But if I switch the viewer mode to 1/16th, it works. None of the other resolution settings do.

I sure hope all of this newness is going to be covered in upcoming Reducation classes. My head starts to swim a bit trying to keep up! Still trying to figure the need for Redline...

Vertical Playback viewing

Vertical Playback viewing

Thanks for the vertical playback viewer, makes my neck not hurt....

Been waiting for this. Much appreciated among all the other new improvements.
