Here's a new release for everyone to try. It includes the full installer and everything. This will go live on the support site later in the week!

Provides native REDCODE media (R3D) support for Final Cut Pro and Color. Includes: RED QuickTime Codec (v4.2), Log and Transfer (build 30), REDCODE plug-in for Color (v4.2), and Final Cut Studio RED workflow whitepaper. Note: Supports RED ONE cameras up through Build 30.

http://red.cachefly.net/redcinex/RED_FCS_installer_v30.dmg

Change list:
- Support for Mysterium-X sensor as well as the original Mysterium sensor
- Support for latest RED ONE camera firmware version
- Support for latest color science science. Old footage WILL look different from any previous release. If you need to keep the old you can install the older version which can be found here : http://www.red.com/support
- You can now change gamma space, color space, ISO, FLUT, Shadow, DRX, curves and lift / gamma / gain for your QuickTime reference files by (re)generating your QuickTime reference files with the latest REDCINE-X build
- Added support to Apple Color's RED room for the new REDgamma gamma space and REDcolor color space
- Added support to Apple Color's RED room for 4.5K footage. Clips recorded at 4.5K (4480 x 1920) will load as if they were shot with a resolution of 2240 x 960 due to Apple Color being limited to 4K maximum resolution. Half resolution decodes for 4.5K footage will not go through any debayer.
- ISO in Apple Color's RED room does not go beyond ISO 2000. Any clips shot at a higher ISO will be clamped to ISO 2000
- Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) is no longer supported with this release

Thanks Rob

Cool! Thanks, Rob.

All right, great work Rob and the guys, checking it out.

OUCH!!!!!

This has ruined all my Color stuff. I have a looping bug that can't be fixed. Playback in FCP sucks.

I just tried reinstalling the old version and everything is still broken!!!

How do I get rid of everything this did and get the old version back?

Dusty

I have the old v20 reinstalled and most stuff works, but I still can't send projects to Color. It is all looping bugs and Clipfinder can't fix them. This was working perfectly before I installed this v30.

I have Color Plugin 4.0 beta installed

My existing Color projects work, but I can't make new ones work. Every clip starts with the first frame instead of the frame it should.

Dusty

How do I check which version of all the software this installed? I know I have Color Plugin 4.0 beta

How do I verify which Quicktime and FCP I have? FCP is locking up and not playing 100% nice now. Same with Color and I can't get a new project to work. Clipfinder says it doesn't have to fix any looping bug, like it is already fixed, so I think I did not successfully downgrade my software to v20.

Help....

Dusty

While this is great news, it still looks like the ultimate solution for everything is still The Red Rocket.

The rocket solution would be PERFECT if color played with it, and or RocketcineX had secondaries and keying etc. It seems like a bummer to process all of your footage through the rocket and lose the easy RAW access during the grade.

I agree that the simplest workflow now certainly involves a Rocket Full debayer to 4:4:4/HQ/Dpx etc. and then cutting/grading those files on a fast system.

Just jonzin' for all of that ISO, Colorspace, WB etc to remain available all the way through!

I have say Apple is dropping the ball a bit on this stuff, the fact that people are buying third party software to fix a common, simple and known looping bug is a drag!

Why can't RED just make every piece in the chain! (Ps. I know this is not possible...I'm just sayin :) )

Hi everybody. When problems arise, what will help us diagnose them is:

1. What version of the FCS support you had previously.
2. What versions of FCP and Color you're running.
3. What steps you followed to elicit the problem.

The installer puts things in several places:

The Quicktime codec is at /Library/Quicktime/REDCODE.QT.component. Within this component, info.plist should indicate bundle version 4.2.
The Log & Transfer plug-in is at /Library/Application Support/ProApps/MIO/RAD/PlugIns/RED.RADPlug. Within this structure, info.plist should indicate bundle version 30.0.
The Color support is at /Library/Frameworks/REDCODE.Color.framework. Within this framework (under Versions/A/Resources), info.plist should indicate bundle version 4.2.

If the installer balks at a "newer version" (which it shouldn't, because it's set up to allow "downgrades"), it would help us to know what versions of these things you have already. Thanks!

Deleting all of these things should allow you to install an older version.

Sorry... now is up&running.
Strange... twilight thing :)

Gavin,

I am using:

OSX 10.6.3
FCP 7.0.2
Color 1.5.2

I was using:
FCS installer v20
Color plugin 4.0 beta
QT codec 3.9

I also have a Red Rocket installed 1.1.4
I tried 1.3.2, but Rocketcine renders much faster so I downgraded back to 1.1.4

I have RedcineX 247 installed

I have REDline 247 installed

I opened a project in FCP that had been conformed to _H with Clipfinder
sent that project to Color
Closed Color
Used the Clipfinder Color Looping fix
opened the project in Color

The same thing I have done lots of times.

Dusty

So I downgraded back to where I was:

FCS installer v20
Color plugin 4.0 beta
QT codec 3.9

and send to Color is not how it used to be.

Now when I try to fix the Looping bug it says 0 of 50 clips fixed. Like Color has changed something. It used to say 50 of 50 clips fixed just an hour before I upgraded to FCS v30 installer.

Also when I try to play footage in FCP, everything locks up for a few minutes, and then things start playing.

The same happens if I open a working Color project. When I hit play the first time Color stops and says loading for a few minutes before I can play any footage.

This is a new thing for both apps, so I don't think I have fully downgraded.

My real problem right now is I had sent a new project to Color just before I saw the thread about v30. Everything worked in Color. The Loop fix was perfect. Since I hadn't done any work on that Color project I thought resend that project using the new FCS v30. Overwrote the working Color Project and now I can't get anything to work in Color.

What am I missing?

Dusty

I just made a new sequence in FCP cut in a couple clips and set to Color and everything worked.

Why can't I send an FCP project that was working just fine? Everything is correct in FCP, but in Color I only see first frame of every edit and it won't play.

Dusty

Dustin,

Try this. Read the clips using Clipfinder via XML. Select all and do the "Make QuickTime". I think old proxies do something bad.

Kaku

I just realized I am not getting a Red Tab on that project either.

I tried making new Quicktimes in Clipfinder and that seemed to help FCP, but not Color.

Could it be a problem because I am using Redline 247 to make quicktimes?

Dusty

I just cut a short sequence using some of the clips from my problem sequence and sent to Color. Didn't work. Every clip stars at first frame in Color.

So I open those clips in Rocketcine and made new Wrappers to see if that fixes anything and resent t Color. Same problem.

Every clip starts at first frame of clip
no Red tab
I can frame through the clip in Color, but it will not play, just jumps from first frame to first frame.

Red, any thought on how I can get this back to working or what the problem might be? Since this was working perfectly just before I installed FCS v30, there must be something left over from that install.

I deleted:

/Library/Quicktime/REDCODE.QT.component
/Library/Application Support/ProApps/MIO/RAD/PlugIns/RED.RADPlug
/Library/Frameworks/REDCODE.Color.framework

Then I rebooted my system.

Then I installed:
RED Final Cut Studio Installer v20.0.0

Then I installed:
REDCODE QT Codec v3.9

Then I replaced /Library/Frameworks/REDCODE.Color.framework
with the one I got from REDCODE_Color_v4_0_beta

Then I rebooted my system again. Correction. Both times I shutdown for about 30 sec and then booted my system.

That should have gotten me back to where I started.

I was working on this footage in Clipfinder 2.5 RL1 and REDline 247, before I installed FCS v30. Everything was working fine.

Thanks
Dusty

Hello,

I'm also getting the "you have a newer version of the software installed" message.

OS X 10.6.4
FCP 7.0.2
Color 1.5.2
QT Codec 3.9

Oh.. and the other files..

Quicktime codec - /Library/Quicktime/REDCODE.QT.component - (indicates 3.9)

Log & Transfer plug-in - /Library/Application Support/ProApps/MIO/RAD/PlugIns/RED.RADPlug - (indicates 20.0)

Color support - /Library/Frameworks/REDCODE.Color.framework - (indicates 2.9)

Any thoughts?

Thanks!
