  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New project...

You have no idea...

I think Jim & Jarred are gonna film the first movie in space... and the cameras will have jet gas to travel and do all these great motion movements that not even CGI in StarWars could do.... All with FoolControl!

I'm going to suggest it has something to do with bridging distant places together,
like having the 8K sights and sounds of an island right in your own living room, or better yet
right in your head. Like an exterior connection that feels like a realtime "Brainstorm".

Back on October 23rd, 2011, Jim mentioned "multiple focus and depth map"... I was surprised to never hear any more about that...

One thing I will say is that we are working on multiple focus and depth map (think Lytros) but with wicked high resolution... The prototype is incredible. Don't tell Gizmodo or Engadget. :-)

Jim

I know, I know, he said this new thing is for EVERYONE... but still, I wonder what happened to that intellectual property? Did they license something to Lytro? Or is Lytro who's lunch they are going to eat?

That light field research came from Stanford, iirc -- University research, in other words. I got the impression at the tech demo tasty Lytro was working with other companies to make light field technology more broadly available.

It would be... Interesting to have a Red camera that could record a live depth map!

Jim Jannard is the most competitive person I've ever met. He likes winning.

Ted Schilowitz: Secret Agent Man.
:wink5:

Ted is alway informative. So my takeaway is VR & AR have yet to find true, practical applications that people can embrace and adopt in volume. The monetization models are still in a formative period right now.

The goggles: There is something quite harsh and rudimentary about the goggles, just feels wrong. Reminds me of Geordi La Forge or Lawnmower Man.

You guys are all way off. If you can't think bigger... I'm disappointed. :-)

Jim

The words of Dr.McCoy 'Dammit Jim'. Actually, we were just getting warmed up. :) Well, not really. That's why you are the mad scientist!

Holy sh@t, Jim figured out time travel! That's going to make things really interesting.

I'd guess a super efficient battery / method to store power.

Or maybe it's a way to generate large amounts of power for cheaper or much cleaner.
