  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Mac Pro

Maybe imminent as well.... :-)

Just teasing...thanks for the alert.

no usb 3.0.....sooo disappointed.

Lulz.

No USB 3.0? No nVidia?

Looks like even more Red shooters will be getting PCs. Bet on it.

Sooo undewhelmed.
I am so not upgrading.

it's going to accomodate the radeon 5870, possibly the 400 series nvidia cards, as rumored on a previous thread. But nothing a mac os update won't get you on your current nehalem mac pro. at only 1.3x faster than my curren mac pro, doesn't warrant another 6 thousand dollars the moment. Gonna need a lot more than just a few more cores for me to get another tower. Might have to for resolve though :D

wow full use of 4 pci slots ( one extra for the gpu )
cuda welcome on board
nvidia 4800 to upgrade
will buy two!!!

4 total- 1 is taken by the GPU. And it's double wide to accommodate beefy graphics cards.

right, but I don't count the GPU's slot unless you are running the machine without a monitor like in a render farm or as a server.

I will have to say: "Thanks, but no thanks." I won't be upgrading this time around....

the pisser is that they allowed extra room between pci slots so a big video card finally won't cover up your second slot. something they could have done years ago. I wanna upgrade to a bigger beefier video card, but sacrificing pci slots is a tough thing to do!
