  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New lcd monitor from smallhd

Is there any thought to a Dtap power connector or AB mount?

We will be adding a RED power cable in the near future. The awareness of this is fresh and we will do our best to release this.

Sorry for the lack of HDSDI... it's a very expensive component and we just couldn't include it this time around and keep it at this price. It is in the works for our next model, currently in R&D. Thanks,

Dale

in the pics in post 19 the numbers of the above seem to be cut off...or is that just from the photo?

This looks great! A couple of questions:

- Is there a menu to rotate the image so the cables are on the bottom? Better to release the stress on the cables and connectors.
- How bright is it compared to RED's lcd's?
- Would it work with a HDSDI to HDMI converter like the Blackmagic's?
- Any idea when the next model with HDSDI will come out?

Maybe for your next model, if you got rid of the VGA, component, and S-video, and only had HDMI, HD-SDI, and composite (BNC connector preferably), it could partially offset the cost of the HD-SDI electronics? VGA, component, and S-video don't seem very useful to me on set...I can't remember the last time I was in a situation where I had to use them actually.

Check out the website for specs, as an answer to those questions.

(not sure if i'm allowed to post links, especially to my own site)

Yes, we will be doing that. Chopping off certain inputs and replacing them with HDSDI. VGA is useful for me and others in the studio though, thats why thats there.

Perorders will ship May 25th and thereabouts. Sooner the sooner. Thanks

Dale

The DP1 is in fact very compatible with the RED. In addition, using the DP1's custom over/underscan you can pull the image in to perfectly view the onscreen menu/display. Because of the odd resolution the RED sends out the HDMI port, it will initially cut off the top and bottom of the menus, but once you scale it back in and get it looking good, those settings will save until you reset them.

What does it mean? All the menus without limitations or restrictions of any kind?

As far as i know, yes. Menus display completely. When we tested it, we were operating the menu just as you would on the RED LCD completely on the DP1.
