  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NEW GROUP BUY: MICROREMOTE WIRELESS FOLLOW FOCUS

Carey - thanks for the response... so you are one of the laggards, too!

I understand that some of the equipment isn't available and wasn't promised. No problem there. But, it still effects where I want to end up with this piece of equipment in the future. As I said earlier, I really hate to waste money - I don't have an excess of it. Perhaps the "safe" thing to do was sit it out altogether but, despite the fact that I wasnt shopping for a wireless FF unit, this seemed like a good price/quality trade-off and a "good deal."

Works the same as any credit card. It's just an authorization for the full amount now, not an actual charge. If you're getting declined then call Amex to find out why and they could probably let it go through.

Yeah - like I said, not my issue as there is no "limit" on my Amex. But it does seem that to get an authorization for the full amount on an MC or Visa, you'd need to have the appropriate amount available on your card.

At the end of the day, the pricing will be correct no matter what. I assure you all of this. RR has been around for a long time. Buy with confidence and enjoy your microRemote at this special price.

I have been in contact with several folks at RR regarding my order and I can confirm what Carey says. The pricing will be correct before you pay.

As a small company I understand how difficult it would be for them to maintain a complex ecommerce system, especially when you start adding in group buy discounts and deposits. It makes sense that they focus instead on building great stuff and sort out the web issues with a few calls and emails.

The good news is that the actual orders are checked by hand, and they contact you by email to confirm things and let you tell them exactly what you want. For example, today they added an Epic run/stop cable to my order even though they are not on the website yet. Everyone at RR has been very responsive and answered my many questions...

...Except this one, which I will ask in this public forum in hopes of influencing the result: WILL there be run/stop cables for other cameras, especially Arri Alexa???

Excellent to hear. Now I just have to make up my frickin' mind about what to order. LOL

Brent,

Yes there will be. We've designed some pretty clever stuff to assure that we'll have a wide range of camera run/stop compatibility, especially Arri. I don't have word on the timing of the physical cables themselves though.

I guess I could buy the Handheld (wireless ready) version now and get the wireless iPhone unit later - and pay full price on that... ?? Meanwhile, if I buy the wireless unit now, I can't imagine there will be an after market for almost new wireless units alone (without the whole kit) for awhile so if I buy the wireless unit, I will probably end up keeping it, too.

Terry,

As the iOS controller is still in development, I can't give you any definite word on it's pricing, and the video you saw mentioning $600 was probably on the older side. But I can assure you it will cost more than the non iOS version because of the shear additional electronics alone (not to mention R&D).

So there will be a market for a used traditional handheld controller for that microRemote user who purchased the Fingerwheel bundle initially, and decided that he needs to add the wireless handheld unit for his next big shoot that he can spring for an AC on :thumbup1:.

Cheers,

Loren Simons

Carey, I was waiting until the pricing thing got ironed out, I'll be placing my order tonight

Hi,
As I am still seriously considering jumping in on this group buy, I have a question about the motor and the system itself. Would especially appreciate feedback from Loren/Redrock.

How capable is this unit of handling a Cooke 20-100 (or 18-100) lens?

Andy,

The adapter is universal, and it comes with interchangeable connectors for UK use as well.

Loren, thanks again for a quick response :)

I did not go for it.. I see little purpose for it with out the iPhone version.

I believe the specs are somewhere in this thread, similar to heden

Guys I wouldn't hold my breath for the iPhone thing
