1 - Separate resolutions for viewing and recording, with view crop added to metadata.

That way I can shoot "for" a certain resolution, but have lots of look-around if needed in post. Dragon Tattoo shot this way - "5K for 4K"

2 - 16:9 resolutions PLEASE. 2:1 is lovely and all, but my clients do not want it, do not want to hear about it, do not care. For now, virtually zero viewers have 2:1 monitors at home. I don't care about the future, my work is only distributed NOW with an ultra-short shelf life, to pay the bills NOW. I am not alone in requesting this. PLEASE 4K 16:9, and whatever the largest 5K version that can fit into 16:9.

I'm sure others have many other suggestions and creative ideas, and I do hope they will chime in.

Whats wrong with setting a custom frame guide and then asking rcx pro to use that for cropping? I do it all the time for 16:9 and for other off-the-wall aspect ratios and it works perfectly, plus I have a get out of jail free for reframing and stabilisation.

1 - The frame guide doesn't zoom my tiny "5 LCD.
2 - I don't use RCX that much - not everyone does.
3 - Editor might not get my intention or know this trick, or even know what RCX is..

please...

please...

+1 to fully debayered sdi output on Epic/Scarlet

Add support for shooting Stills.
Add an option on the REDmote to program any button as a "enter" key.

- Image flip of the lcd
- 16:9 aspect ratios
- Darkened look around (an option to set the opacity outside your frame guide to 0,25,50 or 75%) would be really nice.
- 16:9 clean output through HD-SDI
- HD-SDI and HDMI at the same time.
- Thumbnail overview in playback mode
- Phantom power

those would be really nice and needed!

I vote for XxX pixels resolution within the 5k frame... with view aspect ratio... kind of like flame does it.

So we could for example shoot as wide as 5k in 300fps if just the hight was low enough. then it would be for each and every one to figure out what format to shoot in. size, framerate and compression would be available accordingly.

So if somebody want to shoot 2,35 aspect ratio anamorphic then they can click a preset or do the math them selfs and if they want to shoot 2,35 300fps they would need to lower their XxX pixels numbers. etc..

This if it's possible, and I believe it is would also, allow scarlet users to shoot let say 5k 2.35 24fps.

In other words we could use the pixels in the sensors as we please, the only limit would be the machinery behind it.

1- Playback WITH audio
2- power management
3- 5k HD (or 4.8k 16:9)
4- a way to program "play button" as one of the shortcuts. Currently the only way for playback is using the 5.6 touch screen.

1. Power management
2. Faster black shading
3. Phantom power
4. Ability to record sound from input 1 to channels 1 and 3, channel 3 with -12db. Same with channel 2 to channels 2 and 4.
5. Overview of recorded clips with thumbnails
6. Ability to delete last clip
7. Route iris change to the grip wheel
8. Auto-iris; a push on button changes the f-stop to a fitting level
9. Hibernation mode; pushing a button turns off all displays and puts the camera to sleep. Pushing the record button turns it back on.
10. Auto-level for sound input. (I like the approach where a sound level is lowered when it would distort, but not raised again.)
11. During boot up, a random word of wisdom from reduser is displayed. (Hey, on Scarlet it could be a "tip of the day".)

Martin, 7. on your list is possible already - I use the front jog wheel on my side handle to roll the iris back and forth, (or other settings) Set up a user key to 'activate' the item of interest, then set your rotary control to do 'previous/next value'

a> re-enable internal sync that was lost on last build.
b> sensor scan flip for 3d rigs
c> arbitrary sensor crop for any A.R. I want to use.
