  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New Epic Quick Release System - 15mm LW rod standard?

Is it out yet?

Is it out yet?

Looks perfect Brook. Is it available to order yet? I'm not seeing it on the view factor site yet?

Thanks, Lukasz. You can attach the Element Technica Hybrid baseplate or you can attach a normal quick-release plate for the lightest overall setup.

As for the QR version, the parts that came back from anodizing were a little off - it fit but it wasn't as tight as I'd like. I received my production model of the QR baseplate yesterday and did some new measurements. I'll cut up some new ones as soon as a new awesome little carbide-tipped dovetail bit comes in.

Here are updated renderings to demonstrate the concept. I anticipate it [and the original spacer version] going on sale by the end of next week.

So the FMJ bottom plate for the EPIC in the store that the 15mm LW can attach to will not work with the RED quick release system is this right? That's a deal breaker for me...was about to order but i want to use the RED QR system.

Brigham,

Understand the quick release system is its own animal. The 15mm and the fmj bottom plate are designed to work with the hybrid plates to ensure correct spacing for matte boxes. We have a design for the quick release but do not have it made yet. Stay tuned on that.

I've pushed mine pretty far onto the back burner since RED showed theirs. Moving to a bigger machine shop and taking delivery of more CNCs this week though... so maybe I'll be able to get it out in a reasonable amount of time.

Brook does is the top bracket you make compatible with the new red mounts? Ie 15mm and 19mm rail supports?
