  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New DJI Ronin M

I can't tell the difference, i just installed DJI official app (DJI Assistant) you start Ronin, then you start app, it recognizes Ronin immediately, you login (you will need a DJI account) and you ready to control motors and smoothtrack adjustments

I believe there's an explicit instruction somewhere that you need the DJI Assistant App, and that the Ronin-M will NOT appear as a regular bluetooth device you can connect to via the phone's system settings.

I'm very happy to pay a $100 consulting fee for anyone who can call me on the phone and get this set up with me. If your call gets me in and operating, you get $100 through Paypal, no questions asked!

PM if you know the Ronin-M well, use a Mac, and can speak relatively clean English.

I am serious. I really want to get this thing going!

Thanks.

Stephen

Id like to say the same thing to everyone and not just regarding Ronins.

Ask me anything as long as Im qualified and I will do my best to help with no cost.

Thats what REDUSER is for.

This is place is a great community. I'm extremely excited the Ronin-M is happening and working for so many people! I'll post some results once I get some shots. Got some water skiing coming up soon. That should be a good indicator given the speed and motion involved.

Thanks to everyone!

Yes! And Mr. Loewe can let us all know how the Ronin-M functions underwater.

:-)

Obviously it won't be underwater :)

But from the back of a boat should be a good indicator. Got some car stuff coming up soon as well so there should be a decent amount of footage to show off.

I figured you might fall overboard.

Jitters

Jitters

Has anyone else had "jitters" with this thing. It's obviously a brilliant product but it gets shaky in a way I just don't like, especially when zoomed in. The large scale stabilization is brilliant and intuitive, but it seems to be struggling to adjust for micro-vibrations that don't really exist. My stabilization is good 0/+1/+2 at worst.

Default settings otherwise. What should I change?

Lastly, one of my two handles won't screw in correctly. Really basic machining error or something. Should I contact DJI? I could fix this on my own with some JB weld and a few properly-threaded nuts, but... would rather get it right. Otherwise, really cool product!

If I can kill those jitters it's on point. I assume it's just software settings over-compensating.

I could be wrong, but with the gimbal I had before it would shake like this if you had the motors to high so it would try to overcompensate for the actual weight and get the shakes. It would also do it if it was to low, but it'd be more of a random jitter. How much does your setup on the gimbal itself weigh?

And yes follow your instinct on contacting DJI. I may try the supplier first though because DJI is VERY slow when it comes to customer service. There service is actually pretty terrible in most instances i've heard of.

yes it is software and might bet he balance also,
my rig is heavy, i mean even stripped epic is at the max weight limit of M , and when i balance rig for one lens and do auto tune it works fine, but if i switch the lens, even if the lens is very close to size and weight i get those jitters and roll axis goes off, and if in this situation i select auto tune i get "re balance your rig" message.
I would start from resetting system to factory defaults, then balancing the rig and do 'calibrate system' and auto tune stability, and if that won't help ship it back.

How do you reset to factory settings?

How noisy is this thing allowed to be? The buzzing is audible from ten feet away and quieter but still audible when close to the Ronin even with motor kill on.

Also, what backpack are people using to carry this thing?

I only noticed a buzz when I had the motors set too high.
Have you tried the "silent" mode?

I managed to squeeze the components into this Lowepro Pro Runner 450, with a modest amount of space leftover for an extra lens, external monitor. The gimbal is very snug in the laptop pocket.

There's noise even when motor kill is on. I'll record clips and report back.

Backpack looks great. Thanks!
