  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

New DJI Ronin M

Hey Ketch. . . does a super thin V-lock cable actually exist that we can plug into our cameras? I have a RED V-lock battery belt, but I'll need the 2B to 1B adapter (since mine is the original RED One edition), and I suspect that RED's cable really isn't thin enough.

Thanks.

Stephen

90% of the sample footage I've seen from this thing is just awful!

Is it operator error is this way worse than original?

Yes it does Stephen, I have one... :)

It is the P-Tap to RED Lemo power that I posted a pic of in an earlier post in this thread.

Ketch is correct. . . I do own a RED One, but we also bought a Scarlet just for this purpose, so that's the camera we'll be using with the Ronin-M.

just sold my original Ronin, and ordered a Ronin M for my dragon, will be mounting my Lanparte Vmount battery to the handlebars with these:

RED Powered by this cable :

Running a brushless gimbal superthin cable to my red touch also up on my handlebars.....
Hopefully this works lol

good news is there will be no weight on the motors besides the body and a Rokinon lens..
bad news, 2 cables running up to the handlebars. should be fine though

Good luck, Jake. . .

When you figure your Ronin-M out, let me know and I'll be happy to buy you a nice lunch so you can show me how!

if you carefully strip the jacket off that cable it becomes very flexible,
And i am not using red touch, foolcontrol and small hd 501 with this cable
for the weight of the red body and lens shouldn't effect the balance, well, i'll know for sure very soon :)

What are you guys using to attach the 5.0" touch screen to the crossbar???

Thanks.

Stephen

Darn that LCD cable is super expensive! $320 plus shipping for a cable??? There's got to be something lower-priced that works as well, right?

As to the Nano clamp, one of those will support a 5" touch??? Seems to me would only give one screw of support, but I could be wrong, as they don't show the other side.

Thanks.

Stephen

Slightly off topic, but I think it is an interesting sign that the gimbal thread is the one thread still active from the NAB 2015 forum. Just goes to show where market interest is heading, if not demand as well.

Yes not cheap, but worth every penny if you are to use the RED LCD with any Gimbal!! Been using it since day one on the Ronin. And oh, don't mind the way it is shown on the pic below, I usually wrapped around the roll axis to be less in the way and never had a single issue, really a great cable!

Only way to go cheaper is to use a super thin SDI cable and get a Small HD or any 7" monitor with SDI.

This is death by a thousand cuts. Just bought two clamps and the ridiculously expensive cable.

Thanks guys.

I'm hoping someone posts pics/set-up details when they get it rigged up. I'm very interested in the light-weight gimbals, particularly if they can be stretched to fly a DSMC... Definitely don't like needing pricey accessories, but the base gimbal is so much less expensive than alternatives that it's still a sweet deal overall.

the M was slowly drifting off level today or the roll axis would start level and after about 5 min would be off a few degrees. Has anyone else experienced this? Any tips?

I have been having a similar issue. Upon startup the roll is level, but after vigorous movement *occasionally* the horizon will start to tilt. Roll smoothtrack is off.

I would have to do more testing but it always rolls in the same direction and seems more prevalent in upright mode.

Flying a gh4, and was also running a stiff cable to a smallhd monitor. Removing the monitor didn't seem to effect whether it inevitably leaned or not.

Rebooting was fine. What I noticed though, is that when set down on a stand... It can slowly drift back to level...I'll see with the app data whether it is aware of its lean.
