Checked to see if anyone already started a thread on this. Didn't see one.

Macrumors is reporting:

http://www.macrumors.com/2009/03/09/march-24th-event-to-focus-on-software/

Sevenmac.de reports [Google translation] that they have received an anonymous tip that the rumored March 24th Apple special event will focus on software.

Sevenmac has now received from an anonymous information source a report that the March 24th event should revolve exclusively around software. More precisely, Apple's video Pro Apps should receive updates or see new versions.

According to Sevenmac, a new version of Final Cut Studio currently exists as an internal beta. The beta version, however, is reported to be buggy, which could force Apple to delay the special event by several weeks.

Humm.... New Shake or Shake into Motion?
Good time to add Blu-ray support into DVD Studio Pro.

Makes sense to me.
When you consider that the major new features in Snow Leopard are "under the hood", then showing off some sexy Pro Apps is pretty much the only way you can demo Snow Leopard and make people understand why they should want it.

Excellent point. :ninja:

Hope this comes out before I finish the feature that I'm working on but not likely.

Well, this is the 10 year Anniversary of Final Cut (1999), and its been 2 years since a revision, so many people expect a major update, especially as it will help sell the new Nehalem MAC PRO's. but I thought for sure it would come AFTER
Snow Leopard is released in Summer.

Doesnt seem to make sense to release a new app if it then again has to be upgraded for Snow Leopard

Agreed. But I doubt it will happen. Apple does not like the Blu-Ray... I also doubt it will ship before Snow Leopard. But I can see an announcement coming soon. I would think maybe a bit closer to NAB to help steal a little thunder from others. But What matters, Apple isn't going to have a presence at NAB anyway.

What is the latest rumor on Shake and Motion? Is Apple planning to combine the two to create something new, upgrade both, abandon one or the other? What about distributed processing QMaster, are there any rumors about improving or extending?

Excellent point. I dont expect FCS3 until after Snow Leopard. FCP, Compressor and Motion really need to take advantage of Grand Central Dispatch! (Their new multiprocessor tech)

UNLESS...they've got improvements and new features but haven't yet taken on making FCS ready for Snow Leopard. Then it would make sense to do a release prior to Snow Leopard then do an upgrade later to support it.

Doubt you'll see Apple at NAB

Doubt you'll see Apple at NAB

Perhaps at NAB. I believe Apple is returning. I would love to see it.

I heard it from straight from the horse's mouth that there will be no Apple booth at NAB. I doubt that they would be able to hobble together something since I talked to the horse a few months ago.

New Shake?

New Shake?

Forget about it. Unfortunately they left it long time ago.
Hopefully It won't happen the same with Color...

Motion will be improved seriously though, but never to get close to Shake or Nuke.

Hey Shawn, may I put a :whistling: on this?

Do me a favor guys, don't get your hopes up! We'll see a new another generation ipods before pro apps.

I honestly don't think Apple would be putting so much time into the advanced features of Snow and exclusive deals with Intel on Mac Pro processors if they weren't planning on releasing new Pro Video Apps that take full advantage.

Yes, Apple has become a consumer-centric company but they know they can't afford to lose the Pro market.
