All of my tests the Portkeys 2000nit monitor was significantly better then the smallhd high bright.
Now the SmallHD is advertised as 1200NIT i beleive so I would expect the Portkeys to be
better if it was really 2000nit, and it appears to be true.

For under $1,000 usd this is a pretty significant deal!!

Looks nice. What's the brand like? I'm worried about how they would handle returns, warranty cases, repairs, etc.

US import is handled by Cong He, well known and respected andthe US Vaxis wireless rep.
You would need to speak to him directly as to what service options are available.

I would hold the horses until somebody makes a video review.
We've been there before:
1.Most of these monitors aren't really as bright as the claim
2. They get very hot from all these LEDs drawing all this power.
3.In the sun a normal screen will still wash out as the sunlight is a lot more powerfull source of light than any amount of LEDs
4.The screen needs a special transflective AR coated treatment to hold a candle to the sun. They are out there but it's usually widely advertised feature.

Wow what a great price!

Curtis, your pictures aren't showing up for me. Anybody else seeing them?

Time to add a new crew position for “Rotating Blade Noise Supervisor”

The fan really could be a bummer. On the video the fan is really loud even on the low bright mode. I wonder if there is only two positions : either on or off. (No adaptive mode).

And how would it perform in a portabrace bag?

Pat

I can see why automating the fan would be a problem since it could come on during a take. I also see a lot of people leaving the fans off and potentially cooking their monitors if the fan controls are buried in menus. Especially rentals who may not even know you need to turn on the fan manually. Maybe you can program a Function key to toggle the fan on and off? Then you just hit the function key after the take to turn on the fan and cool it off and hit it again when are about to roll to turn it off. Is the fan only needed when the backlight is at the maximum brightness?

Definitely something I'll be trying out.

focus puller or director will never press that button for sure, they are too much in their own zone... :D
