  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nan's New 11-16mm

It might be like that super hot girl you want so badly and then find out she is damaged goods or has a lot of baggage. Or we may all be surprised. I hope so.
Im just saying also "the proof is in the pudding."
Some frame grabs would give us all a lot of info.

For one, looks dodgy compared to matt's lens so I'm afraid I cant agree with you there.

Second, you definitely dont get the Duclos customer service!

Personally I would wait and pay a bit more to get the real deal.

I understand the wait list is a pain but my lens has paid for itself time and time again, and Im 100% glad I went with the Duclos.

I would be interested to know if there are plans to rehouse the V2.0 tokina.....

i guess i am old enough to remember when "made in Japan" was something people made fun of. don't scuff at "made in China", or you might one day be made to eat your words.

Haven't tested it personally but it would be good to hear a real world users experience and not a bunch of assumptions and knocking a lens no one has touched yet. A little more respect is in order until you experience otherwise, yes?

+1

Anyway lets wait for new sharper Zeiss 15mm f2.8 CP.2 Prime.

Just had my duclos/Epic attached to a V8 super car both externally and internally at speed of up to 280 Km/hr and the lens didn't fall apart. The images look incredible.

My iPad and iPhone and Mac Pros are made in China, just saying....

I don't know about the others, but I do know that the Duclos 11-16mm is more than just a pretty exterior. Matt does other magic inside the lens to bring it up to the highest cinema standards possible with that lens. It is so unfortunate that the theft of all those Tokinas at Duclos has delayed delivery to customers. There may be some imitators, but I do feel certain that no one can mod that lens better optically or mechanically than Duclos. Cosmetics are so secondary when it comes to sharp images, zoom centering, and lack of image shift when focusing it seems to me.

I welcome the competition! Imitators? Stills lenses have been PL mounted for so many years by different places. I think it only makes a wider option for us to choose from.

Matt does a fantastic job, great lenses and great customer service. Im interested to know if the new Tokina Aspherical lens is significantly better than the older version.

I agree with Vance Colvig. Just purchased the Duclos, and have rented the lens before. I've taken the time to do some tests, and it's a superbly re-engineered lens. Don't want to disparage anyone's work, but they'll have to go a long way to match Matt's artistry... plus he and Michelle are great people to do business with!

Hi!
How is it re-engineered other than rehounsed from the original Tokina. Anything wrong with the original version? Just interested.

Roger
