REDSYNC MASTER allows you to send wireless timecode and audio to one or more Meizler-connected cameras. When using the REDsync App, the REDSYNC MASTER can even be used to start/stop multiple cameras when connected to a unified wireless network.

$2900. Ships May.

Woow...Really RED KING of Digital Cinema world

RED Master, I think Ketch will like this one... hahahaha

This is one piece of RED's strategy that I don't understand 100% yet.

I'm just trying to understand why the average sound mixer guy would be convinced to use this instead of Zaxcom... which is likely cheaper, has more audio features and is already in the sound mixer's bag.

The advantage of this over a Zaxcom system is that you can remotely start / stop cameras, etc? EG more closely integrated with the camera? Can it work with non-RED cameras?

RED currently isn't a favored brand in the sound department. You talk to a sound guy and they're like "RED's timecode is finicky and drifts. The preamps suck. Loud fans. They don't understand audio." - it seems to me to be a hard sell to get those guys on board and I'm not sure why RED didn't partner with Zaxcom or Sound Devices or something that audio folks trust.

Would anyone who knows sound mind telling me what I'm not understanding?

Thanks!

Indeed Bruce, Zaxcom's camera link, or even their Zaxnet IFB system, is excellent for this application. I use it all the time on Red shoots.

Not sure if the sound guys stuff send sync signals when shooting high speed?

I think red does it right, Let the sound guys do what they want and preferably keep them away from camera and then feed a wireless signal or simple cable to the camera with sound for playback and editing.

But most importantly, let the audio guys record their own sound on their own device even though a perfectly usable signal is feed to camera. As This leaves us with one less thing to worry about.

Side note, I for one would love if the camera could record sound when shooting off speed. Kind of just adding the sound file to the r3d, even if it does not match up it would be a cool thing to have at times. Especially when shooting just slightly off speed like 33 fps or such. Then Redcine could have a stretch to fit function that rubberband the audio to fit to the longer/shorter picture.

Or is it just me that love slomo sound... :)

Very cool. How many channels can it send?
Lets say we have a 4 channel or 8 channel recorder, could we send those to the Epic or?
Just curious if we can get rid of some syncing in the end.

Cheers
/Andreas
