  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- REDCINE-X Professional Build 18 Alpha

We don't have the particular unit you have in house, so I can't personally verify the issues you're running up against. I'll reach out to Blackmagic Design and see if I can work with them on the issue.

Thanks Grant. I can report that your software can see the Intensity, it's listed as the device under video out so at least something knows it's there.

Anyone else having a problem with RCX Pro 18 Alpha mysteriously refusing to start? It was working fine on my Windows machine along side the current RCX Pro 17. However, today for some reason RCX Pro 18 Alpha just refuses to start up. 18 Alpha Player will start, but not the main program. I uninstalled 18 Alpha, reinstalled, and even re-downloaded and re-installed ... but no luck. With that said, current RCX Pro 17 works fine. Hmmm ?? Did it time out?

Very strange. Must be gremlins in the box! I re-booted (several times) and RCX Pro 18 Alpha reappeared.

A couple of issues:

1) Avid MC Color L/G/G wheels are much too sensitive. I dialed mine up all the way to 10000, but there's no way to dampen them after that. A setting of 1 is unusable, so maybe think of re-mapping 10000 to the midpoint. Also, the 'play forward' and 'stop' buttons are switched in the settings. I had to swap the default values to get them working. These issues also present in the 17.5 release version.

2) Decklink Mini Monitor not working with Desktop video 9.7.3 - this is what shipped in the box. GUI recognizes it and allows switching outputs from 0 to 1 and 8-10 bit, but the resolution field is blank and I'm not getting SDI out.

Running OSX 10.8.3

Both 18 alpha builds crash on my system when trying to start them. I have an EVGA GeForce GTX Titan Superclocked. If I pull the Titan from the computer then 18 alpha will run. Same issue with Adobe Premiere CC due to lack of Titan OpenCL support in OSX 10.8.4. Version 17 runs with no issues with the Titan installed. Is there a way I can get 18 alpha to run with my Titan still installed?

EDIT: If it helps, I tested the Nvidia kext files that are built into Mavericks Developer Preview 5. I installed them and although my Titan couldn't display video it did show in the System Information so I know the drivers were loading, and RedCine-X Pro 18 alpha did run. I've gone back to the current version in 10.8.4 so I can use my Titan for now. Hopefully these same kexts will be in 10.8.5, otherwise a lot of people with Titans and 780's will be SOL when the new RCXP comes out to support Dragon and Red Rocket-X.

Oh and this same issue happens with Premiere Pro CC. I tested that as well and it ran with my Titan installed with the new kexts. Premiere Pro CS6 works with no issues since it's not written for OpenCL the way CC is.

EDIT 2: I continued my testing and got my Titan to actually work and display an image/GUI/video with the OSX 10.9 DP5 kexts installed in 10.8.4. RCXP 18 alpha and Premiere Pro CC are both running now.
