Still plans for a v-mount module with power-through instead of the cable?
This is #1 on my wish list.

I' only like this idea IF you're able to turn off the power-passthrough in a fashion where it is fail-safe to not power up the camera by accident with(!) a battery mounted! There are scenarios where I have the Brick mounted but don't want the camera to be able to power up accidentally -> when the LEMO-Cable is unplugged this is pretty bullet-proof. Buttons can be pressed without even noticing when carrying a camera e.g. in a soft case - if you don't notice this it might be very dangerous (the camera will overheat after some time). Maybe this is not a problem anymore with the DSMC system - but with RED ONE I had this happening once and was only lucky that the camera survived (accidentally turned on in a closed soft-bag -> camera sucked the battery dry and went very hot; gladly there was not much time remaining on the battery and the camera survived just fine - but it scared the s*** out of me when I opened the bag and immediately felt the heat and realized this). This is #1 on my wish list.

...just a story to share to maybe think the "always ready to turn on - status" over a bit
...for what we see here; I think the cable solution is just fine, on the picture the cable appears to be a few centimeters too long for very short configurations but I guess it's not a problem.

Be nice if the 6 pin lemo to camera body connector was a right angle version... be even nicer if the V-mount battery via this backpack option could power the camera through the back pins like the battery modules do. The current non right angle lemo plug sticks out at the bottom a fair bit and at least in my usage tends to get lent on when off the tripod. One of my lemo connectors has already been compromised. I modified a battery plate to accept a right angle 6 pin lemo that extends to the right of the rear, and not only is it neater, but I am no longer putting pressure on the lemo connections and therefore risking broken wires in day to day camera use. Preferable option however would be to have V-mount battery option on the backplate without the need for the lemo plug at all...
Has anyone received their quickplate short yet? Mine just arrived today. Had a real hard time getting it onto the backpack baseplate, and failed to get my v-mounts to click in.
I've contacted technical support and bomb-squad rep, but as I understand it's late/July 4th there right now so not expecting any help soon. Just wondering if anyone else has received theirs and had issues or not.
You should be on holidays, Jarred!
I'm using the PAGlink batteries (here, if you're not familiar), needed some a little smaller than bricks. Is that the issue? They're industry standard v-lock.
The v-lock button engages as the battery slides in, but never pops out. At the same time, the camera has power, but the pins are only slightly touching - it seems as if it's not going all the way down. And I refuse to put any pressure on it
heh heh I am spending tonight in front of a Dragon shooting off it's own kind of fireworks
I think i have a few Paglink batteries at the studio.. ill try and see if I can replicate going on tomorrow. Its a standard V-Lock , but some batteries deviate from the standard a little with the indent spacing around the v-lock.
Thanks Jarred, really appreciate you checking for me. I'll work out which end of the locking mechanism is a weird size and get back to tech support. Have a great weekend with those dragons!
Engineers did their measuring... looks like the actual V of the Pag is a bit larger than everyone else.. where the problem is coming from.
