  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB13- BackPack Quickplate ( short )

Kemalettin, I believe the V-mount in the picture you linked is a part of the Meizler, as in it's built into the module.

While this hasn't been confirmed, it looks like this short backpack quick-plate can only be attached using the DSMC backpack system, which costs $1200.

While it's form-factor and functionality is awesome, it's probably going to be close to $2k. A little out of my price range I think. Hopefully I'm wrong

i dont want cable solution..Arri alexa has solution WITHOUT cable for both V-Mount and Gold Mount
if Red could create 6K camera sure they can make same power option like on Alexa too?

Backpack system....

Brent, can you explain why there is no V-Mount module that connects to the brain like the Quad and Dual module, eliminating the cable (onto the module adaptor or the +1)

Or is this already in planning?

Josef, RED is currently working on expanding the Quickplate System. There is this one for example

(picture from Phil's NAB Journal thread)

I would assume this would be a lot cheaper, and maybe RED will also start selling the DSMC Backpack without the cheese plate if there's new stuff coming up. That will probably make a lot of difference, too.

Also, if this is not already the plan, this piece should get a detachable cable like the XL REDVOLT QuickPlate as I talked about in this thread Thoughts-on-power-gear-and-cables

And if then there would be a Quickplate Belt Clip this would be offering even more options! ...Matt? :)

The cable ruins the sexy design. Clearly power can be run through the mount - so why give us something to tangle and wear out our body connector with pulling and tugging in and out??.

What you guys asking for is a different product (and one that I would be surprised if RED did not have in the owen already).
This particular plate is designed for the Backpack / Quickplate system allowing to super quickly add a V-power without the need for tools.
People who use / like the Backpack system frequently change their camera's config - even several times during a single day of shooting.
This product is for them...

Having said that - I am +1 on a more permanent plate that could screw directly to the brain without the need for a module adaptor and / or a more flexible one that attached to a module adapter. Of course not requiring cable as it would pass the power through the back-pins directly...

Speaking of the cable - I hope this one will have the cable long enough to allow it to be mounted at the back of the GUNNER shoulder pad... :reddevil:

Hehe. Phil is first to notice.... Who else? :) did you already order? ;)

nice stuff!

what's the max. load on the AUX ports?
(in Ampere for a single one and for both in total)

thanks in advance :)

In case nobody noticed.. improved manufacturing efficiencies in our machine shop have allowed us to reduce the cost of the backpack system significantly....

Oh I definitely noticed! And glad I was wrong. I played with one at RSH two weeks ago and fell in love. Ordered both the new plate and short backpack an hour ago. I've had an awesome day. Thanks Jarred & RED
