  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB Recon thread. Feel free to post any product information you come across.

Leica is working on a really cool "thing" I hope they show at NAB :)

Oh? That should be very interesting!

This is not relevant to NAB but I predict that the S and SL cameras will merge. IOW, the next S will have an SL mount, assuming that the SL lenses cover that image circle (I don't actually know if they do or not). They big enough, and that raised my curiosity.

Cameras? Any red phone rumors, or BM camera rumors? Any camera? Any Panasonic dual shutter extra black LCD TV rumors anybody?
BM already announced and released the Mini Pro 4.6k. There are rumors of a new Sony E-mount camera for high end stills / video. (Haven't read anything about a new camcorder style body, but just a new mirrorless body).

Thanks for that Adam. In anyway Sony sensor performance is the other side of the coin since the Micron Sony cross license deal (which I guess Micron Aptina/some new name now, was the source for Red and Sony Red seems to walk closely in advancements since MX which is around the cross license time. But former Kodak was the other option).

However, they are talking about $6000 low rez (meaning not 70mp) high speed full frame 20fps (hence not very high) high iso etc. My guess is the low rez is upto 50mp or more, rather than 20mp, and video will be 30fps at 8k, even burst. If it could do 4kp120 and ultra low light color, it would be interesting (at a much lower cost). But professional stills guys are going to love it.

I really wouldn't mind seeing a 8kp60-50,12 bit just for internal 4k shooting. The results should be a lot sharper.

But we hope, 6k seems to be the consumer intermediary. 7nm man, 7nm, it all happens. Pocket quality 8k descent speed consumer video. Shame Santo wasn't around, we would have 8k probably right now.

I personally don't think 8k video will be in the mirrorless camera, but 4K for sure. If they could go the Panasonic route, and get full sensor readout, downscaled to 4K, even better (I don't think they will do that though, due to rolling shutter at Full Frame always being an issue).

If they can get to 4K 60fps, that would be something though. I just want 10-bit out to a recorder, and not 8-bit like they did with the A7SII.

You are right (but who knows) I should have said just burst. Ambarella supports it in it's chips, but that doesn't mean Sony will support it. They tend not to release higher spec video before they have on higher end cameras. So even 200mb/s+ 8k of ambarella is a no no before the high end stuff milks the market. But 8k is like a decade drawn out (over a decade ago there was a 8k camera from memory, when it really did make a big negative difference to picture quality, and proposed standards by nvidia and displayed TV sets) so you never know. That is how ambarella has been able to release pocket chips with the relevant data rate for 8k in recent years. So, I think we may see a video camera first this year. But if they want to do a synchronised launch (and with out content delivery I think it is unlikely) maybe even a prosumer at 400-800mb/s, and a camcorder doing something abnormally low like 100mb/s-maybe 200mb/s h265.

They are not an old ambarella like manufacturer, who would naively sell you a fhd camera in a 720p market, for the fhd TV you were about to buy after you bought the fhd camera  Now, that is real market economics. again.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE RED do not release a sensor upgrade for the scarlet W

Why wouldn't you want this? They seem to be able to produce the Heliums at a faster clip. It might not be the case, but Raven's and Scarlet W's seem to take longer, as does the VV. I'm not sure what is going on, but if they can get Helium's out faster why would that not be something people want?

Because he just bought a Scarlet-W.

We are looking to purchase a Scarlet W but I would much prefer one with a helium sensor.

Is the blue shape charger going to be coming down the line in gold mount as well?

Is there a gimbal with full controls and quality recorder and screen? That would make a few BM products note useful?

:)

It actually arrives next week I hope. With that wait to supersede that quickly would be a massive kick in the balls!

I'm sure it would be amazing but if they were going to senser upgrade the scarlet they should have done it months ago

Is here anything new?
