  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2014 - REDLINK DEVELOPMENT KIT

And I think the most useful ones are not the simple Ethernet bridges, but the models capable of create an AD-HOC wifi network, as an Access Point with a DHCP server.

In this way it would not be required to have a wifi router on set! ;)

Red, Mikal or any with the Developer's Kit,

Is the gyro data accessible in there?

That is great news! I haven't seen any pictures of the THC mini, but I'm sure we will soon.

Go back a bit in this thread, posted a pict from NAB (post # 97)

There is a better pict in Phil's excellent NAB report...

I know I'm dreaming, but I wish the Redlink could be combined with something like the Switchblade and mounted in place of the side handle.

They could also (probably) mount it inside an adapter module, which is required if you want to mount other modules. Or maybe something tiny that can plug into the Ethernet port. Who knows what they will offer when they are ready to release a product.

Your right Phil's coverage is excellent.

I'm very excited about THC mini and redline combo, but I need to rethink my current power situation with redlink as a back module.

THC mini not officially announced yet, REDlink as it is was released so developpers could start working with it quickly at a low price... But if you wait a few weeks/months hopefully all will come together nicely without having to rethink you power strategies. Think of REDLink bridge as an early adopter / live on the edge thing (still requires beta software etc). You can just test things with the GIG-E cable and an external router while waiting for production ready tools.

Good to know and smart strategy as I can see so many applications for this.

Anyone on the floor who played with the THC/Redlink focus combo get a feel for the lag (if any) of the system?
I felt almost zero lag controlling the canon lens with the THC hand unit over the redlink. was very impressive. i snapped it as fast as i could to see if it would drag. couldnt really see any.

Easy tiger:wink5: - don't get ahead of yourself there.
The lens motors (external or internal) won't keep up with fast snap as they have to accelerate and decelerate. Lets keep it real shall we?

Is there anyway of making the RedLink Module have a Module connector on the back of it, so it keeps the module nature of the Epic and doesn't always have to be at the end of the camera?

I'm sure a lot of people want to keep putting AB/V Mount batteries on the back of their camera, so even just having a null lock-in would be great.
