  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

NAB 2011...

I find the best way if you are really wanting for information is to go through Jim's or Jarred's post history and see what they have said recently regarding the issues I'm thinking about, and after a search here is the most recent answer to your questions(kind of). But as others have said you have to take all this with a grain of salt they have never nor have they yet announced official delivery dates for the DSMC line up, you can blame them for missing the estimated delivery dates but it is good to remember that they were just that estimated delivery dates.

*Jim talking about when other people without a red one will realistically be able to purchase an epic.

I would also like to add, that being polite even overly polite when you are stating something like this helps when trying to get an actual response rather than an attack back, now this does not justify the attacks as an eye for an eye is no way to live you know treat others as you would be treated and all that, but we each have our own methods so mah.

I'm also thinking there might be a bit of a language barrier here that might also be adding to the confusion as i have noticed some of the most confusion is coming from non English speakers going through language translation programs, but that could just be my wrong assumption and if so I apologize, no malice or ill will intended.

I undastand that, is hard to make it, but then why they play in May like they have it already? Is not about to have that cameras right now, is just to get some date to be able to plan.
U right , im forinner, so for every delivery from US i need to pay VAT 22% and custom around 10, I have ordered 2 cameras and paid already 10 k for stage 2 program. I need to keep 70 k for all those expenses since 7 months and it is bad. I need to keep it as the email can come anytime, and then i have 30 days to pay. So i undastand that so many people are waiting, and is ok, but finally we need some terms, after 7 months of the time when we get the message that Epic is ready soon, i have a right to ask what means
"soon"


Now i see, summer this year, at least some date... Thanks Stephen.

Hi Martin, seems like you already have two Red Cameras and paid the deposit for stage 2 for two Epic. So you are shooting with Red and gotten some returns from them? Do not understand what you meant by having to keep 70K since 7 months?

I think the fact that you have already put some money down on these cameras certainly allows you the right to ask the question. I do believe the answers are right around the corner. Jim or Jarred will be the official word on this of course but that is what I'm deciphering from the hints.

Martin, I want to be clear that I don't underestimate your business concerns. They are valid. In this particular situation though, there are too many variables to place an exact expectation on and therefore one must be flexible in case things change. There's no way to predict whether something might go wrong come manufacturing.

Hope you don't feel personally attacked here, especially if there is a language barrier.
 
Lim, u right, is around 44 as 10 has been paid, Vat and custom make it more then 30% more expensive than price in US market...

I think is time to close that topic.

Yeah, Ok.. sooo.. back ON TOPIC….

It’s been a few years since I’ve been to a NAB show, but it used to be that vendors could offer discounted “invites” to people for the show. I was just curious if this is still the case if RED would be sending any of these out. I’m not talking anything special; these weren’t things that were in any small supply as I got many, many invites from just about every company that attends NAB. They were always for the exhibits only.
 
I'm getting an image in my mind of Jim canceling the reservation, refunding the money and saying ... "No stage 2 for you!!"

But all jokes aside Martin, everyone understands and everyone has the same frustrations about delays ... in fact no one more than Jim himself. But to come here and complain so vocally about it doesn't help you, doesn't help Red ....

No one is against you, just don't want you to waste your breath or worse actually hurt your case for getting the camera asap. Hope that makes sense :)

Jim has been known to make occasional strategic moves, and I would include positioning RED's booth at NAB 2011 as one.

Take a good look at the NAB floor map. South Lower is 'Post-Production/Display'. All of the video cameras (and ARRI) are over in Central Hall.

Yeah this time around count on me bringing couple of Girls (:devil: )to help distribute the
Tirami Su', this year I want to spend time Mingling :grouphug:with every one since it is my Las NAB ;(

I bet they doing this so they can show off 4k or 5k on some displays from other manufacturers around them in that area. Should be interesting to see what comes up, see you all in april !
 
Any chance that "surprise" coule be along the line of RED Pro Anamorphic Lenses...?

I can dream... I really want a set of affordable anamorphic lenses.
