1. Scarlet.
2. 4k projection/monitoring and playback in studio
3. Full End to end RAW based Cinema system
4. Tons of fun
5. A bit of a surpise

There is a reason Assimilate wants to get a head start with "something new" in a couple of days...

Gunleik
(who've had funny invitations to tech conventions lately.
I think I'll just grab #930 and see what's happening :) )

What about my bloody fishing mate?

It was good info that laguun fished out, not you
...but I'd vote for a free Scarlet for you anyway...

Cheers,

Keep in mind S.two is talking about bayer pattern post workflow when talking about RED.
No mention of RED RAW recording output.....but who knows?

I hear that Assimilate's exclusivity to R3D ends this month. Perhaps some of the surprises are amazing support by others?

When do you hope to see Scarlet be in production? Delivery?

I hope you have a LOT of camera crews to document their expressions when rumour spreads :ninja:

ooh that is a good idea... Someone should scope out "insert name of most dissapointed company exec" in the crowd or booth for some excellent candid camera action.

"When you least expect it, your elected, your the star today..Hey .. Smile you oo oo've just been shat on"

For sure.

Also each RED user needs a sort of protection plan too.

For example I cannot glue any RED sticker on my car because it is going to be a target car for many thieves to brake in and look for RED.

a bit of shameless promotion never hurt anybody

hey jim can we expect the RedTed wagon to be attending the next SMPTE convention(2009) Australia ?

Or just maybe...

Or just maybe...

Partnerships breaking the short clip/ solid (give or take..) media barriers...

100GB chip with "a lot of bandwidth" /sigh... also scalable to 1TB!

(maybe not entirely "solid" state, but at least not spinning media...)

Indeed, whilst I'm eternally grateful for Ted turning up last year with the non-functioning prototype, it just isn't the same...

I wonder how much would that RED 4K projector cost...

After my kidneys.. I have other organs too ... they seem to work. :)

For example, you want to open your own independent cinema, which makes special screenings of classic movies.

AFAIK, DCI 2K movies are being beamed up directly to theaters using some superhigh speed Internet-like satellite system.

Or other method is through harddrives, sent to theaters.

...

I wonder, if you want to make a 4K screening of Raiders of The Lost Ark, for example, how much would that cost for a single screening?

Let's assume that you have opened your own "classic movies" cinema and you want to make that screening, using for example the RED Projector.

I believe that enough people would like to see their favorite movies again on the big screen. For example, I haven't seen Braveheart since its initial release here. And many other great movies. I have never watched Dances With Wolves or Ben Hur in the theater... I'd really like to... and there are a lot of such people, I guess.

So.. if one wants to make a 4K DCI screening of Raiders, how much would he have to pay to Paramount for that? Anyone have an idea? Just curious.

Or 3-4 screenings for a month, for example.

For the record, I don't have such plans due to lack of money, I'm only speculating.

But if I did have enough money, I'd gladly open my perfect little Classic (4K) Movies cinema. Projecting Apocalypse Now, Braveheart, Dances With Wolves in 4K..... sounds very sexy.

Hmmm, things are seriously changing... I like it. :)

A local historic theater here in Champaign-Urbana has a series where they screen a classic film every month. For example, last month was "Treasure of the Sierra Madre" and February showed "Citizen Kane". This month they're showing "Wizard of Oz" and they plan to show movies like "Superman (1978)", "Lawrence of Arabia", "Last of the Mohicans", "Mary Poppins" and "2001".

Anyway, going to these movies has been one of the absolute most fun experiences. I don't know why, but as a movie-lover there's just nothing that equates to the experience of watching a movie in a theater, and especially classics.

If affordable 4k projection happened and caused something like what karapetkov is talking about, I can say it would be absolutely incredible. My theater only shows these classics one day a month, usually on a Saturday and only 2 showings. I want something EVERY week!

Just a note for those of you who might get turned away at the Red Booth by the contingent ex Chicago Policeman who worked the Democratic Convention in 1968, Ted Schilowitz and the Red team will be at the FCPUG SuperMeet on Wednesday, April 16 and will show footage from Red shooters from around the world and the usual "RED surprises" are bound to happen...

Same here crossing Europe. So yes, indeed! This would be truly revolutionary, as well...

Thanks! I'm looking forwards to seeing all my friends.

Anyone that is going to be at NAB plan on blogging throughout the day with RED updates?

I'll be at the Red booth first thing in the morning on that Monday. Since I don't have a .mac account, I'd be up for someone being on standby for me to email pictures from my iPhone as I shoot them and post them on a thread here.

Okay, so I got my pass for NAB in the mail yesterday. Do I need to wear the name tag at NAB and bring the plastic card they sent me as well?
