Howdy folks,

I shot this little country video in Austin, TX a little over a week and a half ago. Got the call on Tues, flew in and scouted Wed, shot Thurs and Fri and flew home Sat morning. Super quick turnaround!

This was my first job shooting with Epic-W cameras, as the directing team of the video just took delivery of two of them the day before the shoot!

Christopher, awesome work as always......what resolutions did you use for the 24 fps, knowing you needed to bounce around with the 60, and 120 fps. Did you shoot at 8K for the sync?

We shot a lot of 8K 2.0:1 for upto our 36fps playback and then 7K and 6K for high speed. There's a little bit of 120fps in there as well...

Thanks for sharing as you often do Chris. Curious about what glass you used......

Edit: Also the almost solo bit at 3:12 REALLY seems like a live performance as opposed to lip synch? Fantastic either way....pretty pictures.

Scot, good catch. Yes, we did record that middle bit "live." In over 300 videos, that was a first for me. Karen did a remarkable job in delivering the vocal melody and a performance at the same time.

Nice Chris. Curious about whether that was filter diffusion or softening added in post?

Neither, wide open lenses and use of smoke did the trick, plus a soft gamma...

Very nice!!! Great color grading!

Hey Chris, awesome job, as always.

Would you mind elaborating on what ISO's you set the cameras to? Both indoors and out?

And the compression levels used for the slowmo?

Finally - how'd the Epic-W compare to your previous Dragon shoots?

Thanks!

Thanks Chris. Love the strong and tight visual ending. Coffee, low wide of the man in the field turning around, hand match cuts. Pretty tones

Nick, basically I used the least amount of compression the Epic-W allowed as I'm used to my Forged and Stormtrooper.

ISOs varied from 400-800 usually.

Looks nice.
I think the set and wardrobe could use more colors, like red, to give the scenes more pop.

I'm happy with the tones and pallet. As it's a more somber piece, I was going for a desaturated feel. I set all of the color choices in camera and they carried through into the final result. So it pretty much looks exactly like it did on set.
