I'm blasting out some Pink Floyd here (Echoes - best of, on vinyl). When I'm coding, I really need silence, so after coding, I like to crank up the volume.

Pink Floyd is super sweet sounding on Vinyl.

Nine Inch Nails / Sigur Ros here..

I reckon Pink Floyd and vinyl were made for each other. :-) Just noticed Tangerine Dream have three of their new albums on vinyl, which is not too bad until you add up the price in euros, the exchange rate and shipping to Canada.

Okay Ace, I,ve got your back from now on. I have had the same six CDs in my cars CD player for over a year (it,s in the trunk- so I don,t change it often).

4 are Radiohead
1 is Sigur Ros
1 is Nine Inch Nails

Absoloutley. Theres something about hearing the music of that era and the Synths of the 70's and 80's sweetened through Vinyl. Its the missing key!

When we're long gone, archeologists might find the last remaining vinyls, read the instructions on how to play them and remark on the beauty of the music.

All the compressed music in the world is doomed. Long live vinyl, for humanity's sake.

Long live film historians who seek to preserve the wonderful art form. May they take a liking to Red.

Ha! Thats pretty much my play list for my car. Sigur Ros / NIN / Deftones / Wagner / Radiohead

And if the mood is right.....99 Luftballons.

See, there is something we have in common! I'm a little bit more partial to the Dark Side/Wish You Were Here period, but I often listen to the earliest material - particularly the Syd Barrett stuff (Piper At The Gates Of Dawn, and early singles like Arnold Layne and See Emily Play).

I will also confess to enjoying a lot of David Gilmour's stuff as well (Momentary Lapse of Reason, and even the new material like On An Island).

Lately I've been listening to lots of Poets of the Fall, grew fond of those guys.

But I'm quite random when it comes to music.

I've been through lot of phases, The Roots, Asian Dub Foundation, Infected Mushroom, The Prodigy, just to name a few.

These days I've been going back and forth between Poets and The Prodigy (their Fat of the Land album is just genius).

Also dig Chan-wook Park movie scores, they are awesome.

we did a music video with pink floyd in 1994, i got to tour with the band and drive to the gigs with them, it was awesome. it was the division bell album (not their best). the song was "take it back". (click on song title for video)

also in feb of 1980 i won tickets from WAAF in boston to see the wall live in Nassau Coliseum...it was unreal!!!! big big fan!

Graeme, have you ever listened to Dark Side of the Moon in 5.1 surround...it's something you have to treat yourself to someday.

Clearly this implies you've just finished coding something.

Care to share?

One of the best "Album" bands of all time. Absolutely brilliant work throughout the years. I even like David Gilmour's "On An Island".

There are some amazing digital formats that haven't exactly made their way into the mainstream yet, but audio quality is a far cry from the limited range CD, with its 16bit, 44khz specs. Although the CD format is fine for 90% of people, there are those of us who would love nothing more than to kick back and listen to the tracks the way they were meant to be heard.

Great post Graeme. Like everyone else, I'm intrigued by what you are programming. Usually it's something pretty darn good.

See Emily Play (LINK) was one of my favourite songs when I was in my late teens. The part at 00:49 in the vid (not sure how well the tc of the vid syncs up to the original song) perfectly described my GF at the time. It sounds weird, but whenever I hear it, I think of her and have to smile.
