  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Motorized slider for scarlet???

I haven't used the product you mentioned. But if you have the $$, I highly recommend products from Kessler. It's durable, great build, easy to use, and can be used for many different uses. Check them out.

Motorized + plus perfect verticals is tricky with many sliders out there because they utilize a belt system. If you surpass a certain weight it can jump the gear, bend it, or worse damage the motor. Each slider is different on how much weight it can carry.

Personally I use the Kessler Cineslider and I found by attaching a small pulley with a counterweight to assist with heavier payloads works really well. I'll have to take a picture the next time I have it all setup.

I'm actually just now thinking about getting the 5 footer.

My main concern is setup speed, one heavy tripod, and a ball head, so i could just pick up the setup and move it to the next shot or re set for a 45%.

I have a dolly and a crane for verticals but not enough time to set all that up. We shoot car dealerships :)

I like kessler, I have the crane and its great, however the cine slider with the motion control gets very expensive

What you're asking for is tricky enough to warrant the high cost. The Kessler stuff can do exactly what you are asking for. Yes, it's pricey, but you're paying for something that works, as opposed to something that may work alright but give you trouble or just flat-out fail.

Ditogear Omnislider is fine for me. It pulls vertically 33 pounds. I use a small Manfrotto head and remove V-lock battery to keep the Scarlet closer to the rail

Greg, if you buy in USA go Kessler. If you buy in Poland go Ditogear. Just don't buy cheap if you need to go vertical with the weight of an Epic/Scarlet.
Cheers

The Kessler CineSlider is a great tool, especially with the Oracle controller motor attached. I've gotten great results from mine, however not using it as much as I thought so I've decided to sell it. Let me know if you are interested.
