  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Most affordable V-mount batteries?

I'm been speaking with a sales rep at global media pro about their 102mm wide v lock batteries not fitting on the raven base i/o expander and blocking the ports due to the 100.6 width limit. They wrote back with the following, explaining that the 102mm is "in the middle" and not where the ports are and wouldn't block anything. This sounds kind of skeptical. Can anyone confirm this?

"The recommended maximum size it 100mm. Our battery is 102mm in the
middle or 1mm more than recommended on each side. Please note that
102mm is measured in the middle, but the mount (and front) side width
is less than 100mm.

The battery buttons and connectors are located on the left side - so
they do not interact with the mount connectors.

I tried to make an illustration - please see attached image."

I think that should work if the middle is the widest point. Looking at the picture you attached, the base part is probably less than 100mm and it bevels out from the bottom.

I think there's a good chance it will work, HOWEVER, I would just hold off on buying until someone can verify. Ordering international, SUCKS big time. I ordered from my V-Mounts from Germany and now there's the compatibility issue and if I have to mail it back to Germany / international, it's a huge hassle and very expensive as you loose on shipping both ways (for me it would be a $150 to $200 loss just on shipping both ways) and I know GMP shipping to the USA is well over $100, and if you have to return them, it's probably the same amount.

This is the issue I'm facing, so just wait until someone can verify 100% that it works.

I plan on buying the following for my Raven

Are those two compatible? I've heard mixed opinions. The charger is also only 1a, so it would take 5 hours to charge one battery. :eek6:

They are compatible, I have both. I only use the travel charger when traveling, though... As you said, it is very slow.

Will my cinelight batteries fit for Base I/O V-LOCK Expander as it's Dimensions are161mm x 97mm x 55mm

I have a stupid question. I got these hyper core 98 batteries from switronix. Love them so far (using in my 1x1's at the moment since I don't have the camera yet) but just wondering if the information is supposed to be on all the time on the front screen. Seems like the batteries would drain slower when not in use. The percentage and hours remaining never turns off. The light to brighten it can be turned on and off but the info is always there. Just want to make sure this is normal for these.

Has anyone physically tried the Global Media Pro v-mounts with the base v-lock I/O module for raven/s-w?

Measurements on paper are one thing but I'd love to know that someone has physically tried to mount it and either succeeded or failed.

Yes, waiting to see that too.

Thomas answered this question in my post about this.

"I have tried the GMP batteries on the V-Lock expander. They don't quite fit (width-wise), but you can squeeze them kinda in, and get power on. I would not buy them for the V-lock expander in the long run.

Maybe you could file some of the plastic off the right side of the batts and get them to fit better, but I if you haven't ordered them yet, I suggest you order some other brand."

Id be very careful with lower budget batteries. We had one "short" last weekend, and it fried out Teradek and Flanders....

We're now looking to upgrade, and invest in a higher tier brand.

Not worth the headache...

Confirmed this battery on DSMC2. MAXOAK 158WH with charger (also shows %) for $239.99.

Bingo. This is what I've been waiting to hear. Any chance you can tell me how far the battery sticks up above the top of the camera? Thanks!

Were you powering the Teradek and Flanders via the on-battery P-tap?
