  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

More news...

I am shocked. Shocked! That no one has ponied up for what is by all accounts a critical, nay, essential piece of equipment. How are movies being made without this? ;) (LOL!)

Hi,

I don't think anybody knows the price yet, at present it's not possible to order an Epic or Scarlet, so the fact that nobody has ordered is hardly suprising IMHO.

Red's EVF (and I assume some others), uses sequential-color scan... and that can be strain and or headache inducing for some folks, even if properly focused.

A few people have simialr issues with single-ship DLP projection systems.

That is the issue, which is why switching to black & white fixes the issue.

Many Epic Stage 2 deposits.

Don't know if this works with EVF, but how about changing monitoring view to grey scale? Would that help?

Roger Deakins is not a R1 owner neither am I. I am not aware of the ability for Stage 2 reservation owners to be able to order such accessories as OVP's as yet.

Sure, however I would rather see things in color like with a OVF.

Sorry, I was responding to your original post and thought you were saying that no one has ordered cameras.

Seems like this would have to be something you integrate into the brain, rather than a module...

just wondering...

... all the best

d.

The lens mount is AFAIK a module, so hopefully it's fairly straight forward to hack, if Red don't make one.

Actually, there's no better time to put in an order for it than right now. Before the cameras hit the street-- take advantage of the development delay. Get your Epic with your OVF when they're both ready.

ah, sure, you're right, the OVF would probably replace the mount altogether?

I think the mount & OVF could be a module, if I make I make one there would also be the ability to change the mounts. Same idea as Fries had in the late 1970's when the converted rack over Mitchells to reflex.

That's surprising you don't own a Red, considering the number of posts you have and your activity on the boards-- But didn't Jim say the OVF would be a custom program in the neighborhood of $20K each and he'd need at least ten or twenty orders to get the ball rolling? With the amount of interest in the OVF, I would think it would be easy to get that many orders. They seem to love custom stuff, you should just call them up, I'm sure they'd do it for you.

That's odd... as typical sequential-scan imaging optical sytems build white (and thus all shades of gray below it) by sequential flashing of R, G, and B at equal relative intensities.

Thisis why "color rainbows" are visible on single-chip DLP projectors even on black and white movies (for those prone to seeing them).

Fire in Russia and flood in Pakistan!

2012 is seriously coming xD

I am realy glad to see that RED TEAM is very busy all the time. They are making impossible to be possible! My fellas support your REDology :)

Quick thought/question:

I've been doing the math on prices for the Scarlet 2/3" and it's necessary accessories to operate (comfortably). I have my heart set on the Interchangeable, but comparing the prices between the two...well it's not much more expensive to buy an Interchangeable AND the Fixed 8X package then it is just to buy everything needed for the Interchangeable separately. Is there a chance of prices lowering, or was this planned on purpose...not that I'm opposed to buying two Scarlet's. I'm so excited for the day :-)
