  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

More info...

When Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel, the frustrated and impatient Pope constantly asked when he would finish it.

Michelangelo always gave the same answer:

"when I can..." :calm:

I'm in the delayed group. I'm cool with it.

Jim

It’s a bit of a bummer for all of us, but you can hold on to my money. I’ll have a little time to learn FCP and this whole darkside thing you guys talked me into. My Mac pro will arrive Friday.

Hopefully it will give the EVF and Birger mount time to catch up too.

We'll get through it.

I think many of us agree that the delays are more understood with good and honest communication. I appreciate your thread, Jim. I think more people than just I, felt the talk of an entire month or 2 delay due just to "people getting back in line" seemed odd. I'm assuming (and I could be wrong) that it wasn't hundreds of people that did this.

Anyways, I think the more honest communication, the better. Thanks for posting.

Do you have any idea how long? I don't need exact numbers, but are we looking 30 days, or longer than 30 days? As long as we stay in order of payment and we're under 6 weeks (from now), I'm OK with Red keeping my $$,$$$. 6 weeks would be about 2 and a half months with payment.

Again thanks for your honesty Jim, a real reason for the delays, all be it hard, this info does ease my concern.
I'm glad the QC caught this.

5. So here we are. Customers sent money in for their cameras on our request. While we fully believed we would ship their cameras, we are now in a bad place. I am prepared to refund the money to every customer until we catch up and have their camera in hand and boxed for shipment. We have not stopped production, but the current cover glass issue has severally (and temporarily) slowed production at the worst possible time.

I have paid in full. Not so fun, but I fully understand the the situation. The quality comes first.

For myself, I don't want my money back, and then wire the money back to you a couple a weeks later. The interest will not at all cover for the wire cost and I trust the money are in good hands. But do you have any idea of what timeframe are we talking about? Is Jon's schedule give or take a week or two still on?

Can I make a suggestion and if you guys think its totally off the wall feel free to bash away...

The announcment has been made we are all on the same page...everyone knows whats what and why...Each one of us no matter what the status is, was, or will be, will always have alot of stuff to contend with because it never stops.

So instead of harping on issues and rehashing it ad infinitum can we move on from this ASP and get down to business with other pressing matters while they work their tails off to deliver.

Screaming or shouting or pestering ourselves horse at a virtual domino won`t help it to fall any sooner. But since they are so committed to listening to us they are bound ( Tied up here ) to answer. Can we just let them get their job done now and not speak too much about this?

Jarred gets 600 emails a day !!!!!!!!!! And each person expects-demands an answer...These poor bastards are at it 24/7 without respite .... And thats when everything is working smoothly on the good days!!!! They live a grueling life in our service...Lets remember that now.

I will be sending my money in anyway in full knowledge of these minor complications and while the wheels turn on their end I will be locking down the stuff on my end.

In other words carry on as usual and just make it work. It happens when it happens checking up every day or every few days won`t speed things up, on the contrary it just may exaserbate the situation ( Prolong it )...Best is to back off and let the experts do their thing.

Easy to say when you haven't wired your USD 30K...

But I agree I guess...

Jonas,

Read carefully I am sending my money to make a point...I dont see it as throwing a satchel of cash into a furnace but rather taking the opportunity to plant a seed while the ground is fertile...This is our community! Man when or where can guys from every level of the industry gather over a common interest in such a supportive atmopshere? ... No where!

We go through this togther as a unit and come out the other side as a unit. And it makes us stronger. Try getting in touch here with anyone and asking for anything, everyone helps. You have helped me. Thanks.

Relax. I will take you out for a drink. Call me.

Go out and enjoy the wonderful weather or something, Its spring for Gods sake. Unfortunately they can`t do that because they are busy slaving away...perspective.

501-1000 begin shipping in February
1001-1500 begin shipping in March
1501-1750 begin shipping in April, through May
1751-2000 begin shipping in June
2001-2400 begin shipping in July
2401-2900 begin shipping in August
2901-3400 begin shipping in September
3401-3900 begin shipping in October
4001-4400 begin shipping in November (current orders)
So, is the last posted schedule still valid ?
Or will it get worse with the current sensor glass issues ?

Try to be positive guys i am sure they will beat it .RED people nothing will

stop them to achieve impossibles as they always did .

But i can't keep my fears..:pinch:

Huh?

That's a 3 month delay from the recent schedule (which was also declared as conservative).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if my camera is in #2600s (which was scheduled to start shipping now, in May), it won't start shipping until August, meaning I would not get it until September, right?

What margin do I need to add to this to be certain that I will get the camera? I have films to make, and I am sure others do too. Or, should I not plan for any shooting for at least 18 months ahead? Not trying to be difficult, I think it is only fair to know.

it is hard for all of us .. i am really broken with this delay .but what can we do ..we have just to wait and pary for not late ..

I guess the schedule stands until RED say something else - I assume the glass problem may affect next batch a little, but not bathes after the next one.
