In my search for a battery plate, I've contemplated Wooden, VF, CinemaOxide, etc.. and settled with MG1 for affordability and a few good reviews. Let me add to the pool and say that I'm not only completely happy with my Scarlet V-Mount Pro, but I was recently surprised to see how good the customer service was.

At a recent shoot, my batteries (AXRTEC 89s) stopped powering my Scarlet and I couldn't quite figure out the problem. I tried opening up the plate to see if there was any damage to the cable, but didn't see any indication of it. I contacted John at MG1 and from then on it was super quick email replies back and forth to pinpoint the problem. I sent out the plate on Tuesday and received it back Saturday morning, just in time for a shoot, in perfect working condition. Between Tuesday and Saturday, I've been receiving daily email updates and even a follow-up convo this morning.

I hope this helps any new RED users on choosing the right plate for them.

I got the MG1 plate for my Scarlet and I'm happy - it's a cheap and solid solution for mounting a V-lock to the back of the camera.

I haven't had any problems with mine, but it's reassuring to know that they have great support if things go wrong!

I sent my plate in for an upgrade from the original. I've always dealt with Gary and the service has always been exceptional and quick. I couldn't be happier.

The AXRTEC batteries do not read out the percentage, but there are LED battery level indicators on the side.

I was a bit skeptical at first, but when I spoke to them via e-mail than eventually on the phone. I was pretty assured this would be a good fit. I mean the build quality is outstanding for such a small company. Did some research, I found they built battery plates for the DSLR market. Cool especially I have a Marshal monitor that needs powering but in a small form factor.

Saying thanks!!! Keep up the good work. Looking forward to your up-coming products.

how does it work for taxes and transport? Do you send it "as gift" to delete import taxes?

You have to pay duty, import taxes and shipping, dude. Everyone does. Different countries will charge and some won't.

Thanks again your amazing service and quality. I applauded John & the MG1 team.

Love the fact these MG1 batteries are %, not voltage

shipping

shipping

They have a great price, I was planing to buy this mount but stopped when I saw the shipping prices to Canada, it was humongous comparing to any other store, something around $150 to ship to Canada for such a small product, it was a shame.

International shipping is expensive, regardless of courier. We ship with UPS or FedEX based on say 2lbs. We also can ship USPS but we had problems in the past. Actually, Canada isn't so bad compared to other foreign countries. Sorry, we don't set those costs from those couriers - they do.

Please contact us regarding if you prefer a different shipping options and price. We are here to help.

Thanks for replying, I wish I knew you guys were flexible regarding shipping ( you should mention that in your website), unfortunately I had to purchase from somewhere else, I got less than half of your shipping price for more pieces. Also my Red package came in with a cheaper shipping than for this v-mount piece only. I'm just flagging as a constructive criticism although I understand you dont set the shipping prices, maybe giving more shipping options in your system?

Hey Michael,

Seriously looking at this as an option. Was looking at the x v-mount originally.

My only question is I'm looking at the Scarlet Indie Package with the Plate and 2 batteries, but when I add up the cost of the Plate and 2 95v batteries (which is similar to the package) it comes to $50 cheaper. Is there something included in the package that I'm not seeing with the price difference of ordering the mount and batteries separately?

Thanks.

What did you get for less shipping and more pieces? I bought from them too and I paid like $100 to ship to Australia but it came with insurance & signature confirmation. I think you can't compare MG1 to RED - they ship a ton more probably like any other RED accessories company. The more you ship - the better the price you get.

Have you shipped out items from Canada to US before with tracking number, insurance ($500) and signature? Plus you have to factor in time or how fast you want it. Next day, two or three days. Huge price gouge.

If you are complaining about shipping; this is the wrong industry to whine about. Wait til you have to buy two or more RED cables at $200/pop. It sucks but its a fact of life. If you want to run your camera or rent it out. Cables twist and break all the time or when they break on location and you're desperate. Fck me - $200/300 for shipping next day. OUCH!!! I wish I lived in US so much cheaper.

Hi Caden,

Not whining here, I just reported my experience, I understood they create an estimation based in 2 lbs package, and if you are interested, I bought from this other company a similar product with other plates and cost me $34,00 to ship to Toronto and took 3 days for me to get them. I also understand they are flexible regarding shipping their products which is a good thing, I wish I knew that before.
