  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

MEIZLER MODULE - Sneak Peak

Can't wait to learn more about this. Wireless HD video is the big one for sure.
I just hope you can swop out the V lock for an Anton Bauer.

Let's hope the wireless video can also trigger a connected samurai with matching time code and clip names.

This would be the perfect module if it had EVF out. I love every feature of it. Just the way and would like to work. Give the director a wireless monitor. The focuspuller also with all the lenscontrol, off camera. Perfect. Just miss the evf out... Jarred, is it possible to have the quad battery module instead of redbricks?

Is there a Compact Flash slot on the other side of that baby for proxies? ;) I assume not since this seems really targeted to large feature productions which will have a DIT cart handling that anyway.

No proxy recording. This is for the big boys.

When Jim has mentioned how awed he is at the innovations going on behind the scenes at RED, he's not kidding.

This exceeds any expectations I had for building out the system this year. What a wonderful surprise. Oh, I forgot - it's another scam. Damn, I'll just need to order more than one to be sure...

Speaking of more than one - accurate enough sync for a 3D sled?
Will two be able to transmit close enough to each other for wireless 3D monitoring?

Accolades to the design and engineering teams!
The REDvolution continues...

Great concept Im sure the demand will be good.

What is the Audio receiver spec ? Will Rd make the transmitters or can they be third party units ?

Did I miss what codec the 1080 wireless video transfers in? R3D, ProRes, H.264?

It would most likely use a form of Mpeg-4 but the receiver would just spit out an HD-SDI and/or HDMI signal. Unknown if the quality is suitable for recording but the only reason to do so would be dailies/offline.

-while we're in the "Mother of all Wishlists" mode let me ask for future wireless aes 42 control of gain etc. on digital mics and transmitters and 4+ channel digital transmission back to the camera. Possibly with onboard transmitter recording, Zaxcom style. That will end most audio issues right there... ;-)

Agree for feature and episodic work. However, I can see huge ENG implications here. If the 1080p output is high enough quality, this thing could be a killer. Streaming your feed back to the truck or device and encoding your preferred delivery format. This potentially is the missing link for some applications and markets where Red isn't a household name yet.

is there a way for option A and B?
A with HDsdi
B with second monitor port and no hdsdi, since we already have one on the brain.

man the 2nd out is so important because navigating through the menus with the red mote and side handle is a hassle.

Proxies?

That damn thing of the past that most often kills any postproduction pipeline by - in the end - not working right when conforming from EDL and such?
Proxies are so much out of date IMHO.

Any job we shoot is always posted in final quality. Nothing else makes sense, really nothing.
So, that module IS for the small boys with the cost efficient pipelines in mind!

Cheers,
Axel
