  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Meet Snappy @ ISO 800

I've already stated that the meter now matches the camera in our new color science.

Again, we are just posting stuff as we go along. When we are finished, we'll post stuff for critical viewing. All you are getting now is a sneak-peek during the process.

Jim

Thanks again Jim, most of us really really appreciate this... as we certainly wont get these sneak peaks from anyone else.

Looking forward to those center crops!

The word awesome is overused these days, of course. But it's the only word that fits in this case. Awesome work, guys!

I'm out one night on a shoot and come back to a new world. This kind of image possibility now being imaging fact makes for a very Merry Christmas, and what an awesome New Year to look forward to! Congratulations Jarred, Graeme, Jim and all you magic elves!

Wow. That's a thick...shell.

Great job, guys.

wow...wow...wow..800 ASA that looks better than 320 ASA...

Looking at the Waveform of the file is pretty impressive. The blacks seem to have very little noise if any at zero percent. This is a whole new ball game.

the ProRes looks amazing...how can I save it to my hard drive???

appreciate the sneak peak jim. Don't let them fool you, plenty of us lurkers are just thrilled with every little glimpse you give us.

I really do not mean to be.... but for some reason, every once in awhile, something slimy just mysteriously gets dropped off in my "kitchen".. :)

*Pushes Glasses Up Nose* Well ACTUALLY they're crustaceans. . . hmmm. .

/me rolls for initiative
//my boots are +2 to flaming

I appreciate the info about the meter and the camera matching. The images look amazing. Definitely excited about Epic and wanting to jump into learning more about the new sensor's low light capabilities along with the new color science and ISO setting calibration. I hope my pursuit of knowledge and clarification is not offensive in some way. I look forward to the stuff you will post for critical viewing and look forward to having an interesting dialogue about exposure and new color science with other redusers.

Silky smooth !
the range from highlights to blacks is stunning.

Something about it made me go back to the first footage from the Red 1...

Yes indeed!

I wonder when it is available for the R1 :)

Antoine

No kidding - I haven't heard or read any specifics on that yet- anyone have an idea? Or is this something Red can officially comment on?

David, remember that with the type of lights that Jarred is using, the B2Pro, we are talking Briese Focus line here, it does not only count what the foot-candle output is and or distance from the illuminated subject, but more importantly it counts the Size of the Silver Reflector, and the point distance in which the long arm is set to focus the bulb in, as this element will make the al difference in the world, and I'm sure it is this exact type of control over your light distribution which can become so smooth, that Jarred is referring to as addicting.

Yes.

The site looks cool.

David

No offense taken Eric.. foot candles is just not part of my Personal workflow... Ever. I do verify with a meter for a reference, but we have learned that most meters are terribly inaccurate so we use much more accurate tools when we do critical testing. Images like snappy are not used for calibration.. It's just something we fo for fun to see where we are at in the "real" world.

Please, please, please sell a RED Light Meter :thumbup1:

And as always, thanks for posting drool-worth imagery

That really is incredible footie! I HATE noise. . .and this looked really clean!

Is the new M-X chip 4.5K at 2:1? I don't like the super-wide-screen 4.5K on the One now.

Thanks.

Stephen
