  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Update... The month of Raven

Anybody actually know how big that mountain is? I have a pretty good idea. Anyone else want guess how many Ravens were ordered before NAB?
must be huge because i see so many people that arent on reduser receiving their ravens and posting on instagram and facebook and the reduser que not moving.
i personally know about 12 people that also arent on reduser that ordered the first day, but no allocations.

Hey sorry guys been super busy this week, I'll give a June update next week.

Thanks Jarred!

Just can't wait to get my hands on a RED, and would love to hear an update on how things are going.

While I wait, I am trying to pick out some new glass to go with it once I get allocated. :)

In all seriousness, though, I like seeing Jarred pop into a topic on a Sunday to give a response. You don't see that from other companies!

Super excited! Finally leaving the Canon world so I'm really eager to receive the SCARLET-W! HOPEFULLY, ITS before September or sooner!

And before the expo is over, even. :)

Ooh Happy Day! - my Scarlet-W #00740 arrived Saturday. FYI (first question many will ask) I was Allocated + PAID in mid April. Raven to Scarlet Switcher. Base i/o package. A big thank you to Kevin Solomon, Nick Watkins, Chris in customer service and of course Jarred & Brent & the entire RED production team! THANK YOU. I feel very humbled/grateful/appreciative that I have the SW in my hands now. For those of you who do not have your cameras yet, please be patient as you soon will.

When I first saw this thread I called my bomb squad rep right away. It's been around a month since I originally chimed in trying to find answers when my REP could give me none. Kevin couldn't really answer my questions. My ONLY real concern was that I had already allocated/paid in full for a camera before this announcement. Brent and Jarred both were quick to clarify for everyone that anyone who had already been allocated and paid wouldn't be affected and we would still be processed accordingly (albeit slower than usual)

I had 4 single day shoots last month and chugged right through them using rentals which I had been doing for years already so it was relatively easy. Yes I was offered a loaner when this announcement was made BUT after seeing so many others in situations shooting features and long multiple day shoots I decided to forfeit my offer for a loaner so that others in more need could have one. (not to mention dsmc1 vs 2 accessories)

I remained patient. It was hard. We are all so used to instant gratification these days. I work mostly in VFX/3D Animation so patience is kind of a job requirement. It was still hard. Throughout remaining patient I somehow also remained excited though. HOW U ASK???

First of all, I've given 110% of my creativity & mind to my clients the past month and it's always exciting to do what you love. On top of that I consistently reminded myself why I decided to purchase a RED camera in the first place. From the original announcement of the REDONE my little pea brain couldn't stop thinking about the images and workflow. I remember hearing Soderbergh was shooting "Girlfriend Experience" and "Che" on RED. I waited patiently just to get a glimpse of cinema's future. Fast Forward to current and RED is a reputable company who builds cutting edge durable & dependable cameras. I was interested because of the acquisition but the workflow made me fall in love. This love is what kept me excited anyway.

THEN!

The announcement of the Panavision DXL this week was incredible news. Seeing this happen was literally mind blowing. Talk about cinematic history!

Purchasing my scarlet-w has become a life experience I will never forget. If it wasn't already, RED has now forged its way into my soul for eternity.

For anyone still thinking about making a first time purchase with RED or anyone still in the queue. Imagine going to your favorite restaurant and they have a 2 hour wait. The "Fast food" place next door has no one inside. If you just need a bite to eat you may save time & money and go to the latter. You've been to your favorite restaurant and you know its worth it every time. Those little after dinner mints they give you with the check are such a nice touch. You cant forget the chef who will come to your table directly because he truly cares about his food. You know its worth the wait! Get your name on the list for a table. While you are waiting do something productive and you will be eating before you know it.

now back to VFX on these music videos. good luck to those still in the queue.

I spoke to my Red Rep yesterday and he said that it's now looking like my Scarlet W package will be allocated by LATE SUMMER. Back in the early Spring I was told May or June. I'm a January 20th time stamp. I bet I don't receive anything until October since RED seems to be drowning over there!!

Bummer, sorry to hear. If it's any consolation, I'm a Dec 10th timestamp and I know myself and others had our hopes a little too high and thought we'd be included in the "shipping March" announcement. Fingers crossed that I get mine before a couple weeks of shooting I have at the end of the month. I definitely didn't promise a RED for those shoots though, so at least I'm covered in that regard!

Has anyone received an allocation in June? We're about 25% through the month, so hopefully we get an update soon.

Damm, i feel like JUNE update is gonna be another sh*t like (we work hard on making 30 camera a month pls understand us...) i'l finaly have a camera in f*ck**g 2018 at this rate ! iMy friend he is 27 sep and no word .... let me have a wild guess that is going to take a year or more to get your hand on a RED RAVEN BRAIN ,

ppl are like, dude d'ont be so grumpy one day you'll have the camera and be happy ..... at this point i think i need to brain wash myself like the other on this website and think about this like *THIS IS A NORMAL SITUATION ! :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::emote_head_explode::emote_head_explode:
