  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Update... The month of Raven

Next Update in 1 sentence.

June 2016 Update- Hi everyone, be happy, 5 scarlet W's will go out this month and we will do the month of the raven again in July and August and get through December allocations!! :prrr:

However, don't forget to pretend to be happy for the next update if you want to get a free upgrade to weapon ^^

The individual(s) that received an upgrade to Dragon were not pretending to be happy.
They expressed their anxiety time and time again over the course of, what, 7,8 9 months? They ALSO were helping others, encouraging them, making suggestions to other users with anxiety, offering up their own experience with Bomb Squad communication. They were an excellent example of what a good attitude should be and how to handle the situation with maturity and professionalism. Because of their example and good attitude they were rewarded.

Also remember, RED reserves the right to refuse service to anybody with a bad attitude.
I've seen it happen. One forum member would not let up with doom and gloom and foul language. Post after post, warning after warning from Admin. *POOF* His order was cancelled and deposit refunded. Sometimes the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Other times the wheel gets removed and replaced.

We are all in this together. It's like flying out of ORD on a CRJ-200 regional jet, coming into DCA in late March fighting the geothermal updraft, BUMPY AS HELL. But as you look out your window and watch the left wing flex and bend you know you're all in this together. And one way or another you're all coming out of that plane when it's time. You are no more special or relevant than the person sitting in A12. Sometimes, a kind word or a hand on somebody's arm is all they need to keep calm. You either lean back, tighten your seatbelt and ride the ride or you make a scene and flip your shit. (the booze cart is put away on final approach so there's no help there either, haha)

Make the right choice.

Im just happy that they even came out with the Raven and Scarlet-W... allowing many RED fans dreams to come true by making the best cameras on the market affordable to almost* anyone.
Even if you dont agree with relatively slow shipping times...
You have to agree..
They make some of the best cameras on the market
They have some of the best customer service
I could go on and on...

RED doesn't make a video great. RED just makes it better. Its up to you to make it great.

I understand 100% that some of you are upset and honestly, I'm upset too mostly because I'm incredibly impatient. I think a lot of us are. But in the meantime, I'm filling the void using my old crappy camera (FS100 and currently falling apart) to create amazing content for my clients, regardless of my equipment (which I'm investing in while waiting for my brain as well).

The RED Scarlet-W will be a major upgrade when I do receive it. It does suck, yes, but from what I can tell they're incredibly worth the wait and besides with the basic law of economics, supply and demand. The price they offered these amazing cameras for, was going to create a demand that they simply could not keep up on the supply aspect. I'm grateful they did this and I don't care if I have to wait, because I can finally get the camera of my dreams. I'd imagine the RED employees are working tirelessly to give us the amazing cameras we want. Imagine being one of the employees at RED working tirelessly building cameras AND fielding calls from us asking for updates about them..

We're LUCKY to receive an update, we shouldn't EXPECT one. People do not receive these from other companies.. and NO, this is not "fake happy" this is angry and impatient, yet UNDERSTANDING and APPRECIATIVE.

I was not suggesting that the guys pretended last time. I was telling an upset guy to pretend next time.

This has just turned into a really frustrating situations on both ends and as much as one side of me would really like to blow up you've got to see the other side of the coin too.

As a S-W purchaser with an early January order, yes I'm frustrated that things are taking longer than expected. Finally, a Red priced where I need it to be in order to not have to rely on renting a dragon all the time, only to watch updates on new awesome cameras or time be allocated to Raven rather than S-W. Absolutely frustrating. Then to be told by those who've received their camera already or can afford to wait a few extra months "it's ok just relax come on" as a blatant attempt to get a free upgrade to Weapon all the while you as a purchaser aren't really chasing one you just want what you ordered. And then you call your rep and they tell you they have no information for you. Yes, very very frustrating. BUT...

Recently I've started to look at it the other way. Enough time being frustrated will start to make you look at things a bit differently. I'm positive RED isn't happy about this. I'm also positive that they are trying to do their best, and I really don't think they knew how many of us would instantly pull our wallets out to buy into DSMC2 once it became affordable. They knew it would be a hit but I assume it's just become a ridiculous number at this point and even they don't know how to deal with it. So yeah I'm frustrated but it's not THEIR fault I decided to plan to have it by now, my rep didn't mislead me, I just gathered from his comments it would be before August and made my own assumptions because that's what I wanted to believe. Like I said they can't be happy about having this amount of back orders and furious customers either. They also never garaunteed when we'd all be getting our cameras - it's a pre order and shit happens and from people I know who've been through this process with newly launched RED's they've told me to be patient. Again, seems like these people are patronizing you at a point but they are right. Red will gladly refund you your money to go buy something else if you are not happy with the wait, as for me I'm in it for the long haul and once you just accept that you are going to wait you also need to accept that you can't cry about it on reduser that's not going to get you anywhere. I'm going to suck it up and be frustrated and keep that shit to myself and not blame my assumptions of delivery on the people making my camera because those were MY assumptions and I shouldve not got my hopes up and conducted myself accordingly not rely on a camera with no hard release date. That's my fault.

FS100, damn! I was on FS700... then added the 7Q... then went to FS7... and I'm still antsy to get my hands on the Scarlet-W! I can't imagine what you're going through. Hold fast, dude!

Damm, i feel like JUNE update is gonna be another sh*t like (we work hard on making 30 camera a month pls understand us...) i'l finaly have a camera in f*ck**g 2018 at this rate ! iMy friend he is 27 sep and no word .... let me have a wild guess that is going to take a year or more to get your hand on a RED RAVEN BRAIN ,

ppl are like, dude d'ont be so grumpy one day you'll have the camera and be happy ..... at this point i think i need to brain wash myself like the other on this website and think about this like *THIS IS A NORMAL SITUATION ! :smilielol5::smilielol5::smilielol5::emote_head_explode::emote_head_explode:

I've been trying to NOT get grumpy for 6 months. #timesUP

As a veteran queue watcher (Paid deposit for one R-1 in April 2006, another deposit for R-1 in June 2006... cameras received August 2008) let me just say I FEEL YOUR PAINS!!! that's all... no words of wisdom, no secret shortcuts, no personal chill regimen... just I FEEL YOUR PAINS!!!

Hope that helps. '-)

OMG hilarious. That's what I felt about everyone kissing ass after Jarred had the announcement. Everyone was so fake.

The sudden kiss-assery almost brought me to a boiling point. A lot of people on the forum are genuinely trying to help other users out but jarred and Brent aren't stupid- those idiots who came out of the woodwork trying to be "supportive" don't realize that it's very easy for someone to see post history and realize it's a blatant attempt at a free upgrade.

At the original announcement, I expected a protracted shipping date of about a year to meet general fulfillment and after that things would plateau. But I am really surprised how the delivery schedule is playing out across the board. I do wonder how much of the delay is related to the electronics supply chain disruption of the Japan earthquakes?

Again we wait for another reality check announcement from RED HQ and should smartly re-evaluate any production commitments happening in the 3rd & 4th quarters.

I guess the Scarlet-W queue was simply ruined by the Raven switchers? Maybe the Raven should have been "isolated" then, to not have that dramatic effect on other lines.
I remember my rep was talking about the early April allocation or something (early Feb timestamp), but now the "miscalculation" is like what - 5-6 month?

But it's all ok I guess. The only bad thing is not knowing when the allocation will hit. It's really impossible to plan anything like that financially and projects-wise.

I had a somewhat similar experience to this with DJI last year. Basically, DJI was overwhelmed by the success of their drones and was totally unprepared to meet the needs of their customers. I sent in my Inspire for a repair and it disappeared into a black hole at DJI for months. It was in a queue, they said, and would be serviced as soon as it reached the front of the line.

I found out later that DJI was hiring new staff, training them, moving to a larger facility, all in an effort to meet the overwhelming demand. But during the process there was no info.

It was frustrating in a way, but all part of the process of introducing new technology to the market. The difference in this case is that RED has been very open and honest about the demand and has communicated the steps they're taking to meet that demand. DJI never said a word. I called weekly to try to get answers, but never really got anywhere.

"Ruined" is maybe a bit strong, and from RED's perspective the Raven-Switchers lightened the Raven load (which I assume is an absolute monster of orders to fulfill), so there were strong motivators from a business perspective to do that. Upset a few customers but make others very happy while also attempting to level their ability to fulfill. But yeah, the unfortunate reality is that there are only so many cameras made at a time, so it pushed back everyone who had placed a Scarlet-W on Dec 10 onward.

It is maybe strong yes :)

About the analogy with DJI - there is a big difference here, as RED products will actually be finished and working well :001_smile:

cameras ARE pouring out, just not to people on reduser, i see new posts everyday on other social media of their cameras just arriving.
there just must be a mountain of orders besides the people that are on this forum.

Oh, not comparing the products at all! Good lawd no! Just that I've been in a similar boat before waiting on a tech company that's been inundated with customer demand.
