  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Update... The month of Raven

I have a Scarlet Dragon, so a delay in delivery doesn't stress me as far as quality of life, or revue stream, but have to say not impressed with the process. My rep I had is no longer with the company so perhaps that explains why my experience has been poor. Don't like to bitch, just giving honest feedback.

Brian, I have asked BOMB SQUAD management to look into your specific case, FWIW.
 
I am curious how this will effect relatively new Scarlet-W orders, made in the last 2months. I can see a month of no allocations delaying my delivery by a month. Will that mean that I should reasonably expect a camera by Late Fall? I know it's virtually impossible to tell, but the complete stop of production, plus the other issues I have had with this order process, namely over half the money sent not showing up in my RED account and disheartening for a first time RED owner, Who would like to be able to use his camera for various shoots before the weather gets too cold to do any projects.

I want to add I wasn't expecting the camera till late Summer at the latest, but late Fall is almost too late for me.

Haha! This made me actually snort in comedic goodness. Switch! Switch again! Now switch back! I was told the same and switched to SW in March from a mid-October Raven order but totally not switching back. Even offered to pay in full but she said "no" :P Ah drama...at least it's entertaining. #wanders off to look to at Arris
 
Yale, our expectation as listed on RED.com did not change with this announcement - we expect orders placed today to ship in Fall 2016. Same as it was last week.

I am not telling him to switch or not. Just saying he has the option to go either direction.
 
Thanks Brent, I was sold a step up in camera. I was also sold a way out of the quagmire of the current situation. But here's the thing, I can't rely on the words of my rep ever again, and that sucks. We freakin rushed down to the bank and wired money like fools. That is all.

Thanks for clarifying that Jarred, it didn't seem to make any sense. Thanks Brent as well for checking in, I'll be confirming with my rep tomorrow, but I have a feeling I still won't have a camera for my shoot so I wonder if that Epic Dragon loaner that was issued to me is still being sent? My rep assumed I won't have a camera for a while.

Anyway thanks a lot for setting things straight, really hope all who was allocated at least get theirs soon
 
spent another 5 minutes playing with the Scarlet-W at the Miami RED store tonight. I really don't care when my camera is actually ready and I actually have the funds to pay in full. It is so much lighter than my current setup and that 7 inch screen... oh my it just makes everything look better. And quiet did I mention quiet???!? no I didn't so yeah it's quiet. I guess the longer I wait maybe I get lucky and win the lottery and then just buy a CF Weapon. That would be icing on the cake. So I am done bitching. I'll focus on making more images with my current setup and deal with it when my number is called.

Summertime. Not an exact science here, but I think that is a good conservative estimate.

Please read Jarred’s earlier post. The info the rep gave you was the info he/she had at the time. You cannot fault them for that.

I understand the disappointment, sure, but that is a little harsh to take it out on them personally…

If you don’t have it in time for the shoot, you have your loaner. If you have it in time, send back the loaner. Should be covered either way, no?
 
Thank you Brent. I will keep my hope and dreams for a summertime delivery. I cannot wait to join the RED family for the first time and I hope to join it sooner than later
 
I ordered a RAVEN package within the first hour and did think about switching but stuck with RAVEN as it will get me by until I pick up a WEAPON later this year. I am not a patient person at all but I know I am going to end up with a solid little beast of a camera and one of the draws to RED besides the kick ass gear was the transparency of the team! Cheers to Jarred and Brent! I much appreciate the straight shooting communications and no BS responses. When you make a mistake you own up to it and if you can make it right you do. I have been buying gear for a long time and not many companies allow you to chat with the decision makers nor would they listen to your input and respond, let alone in the capacity RED does. I do understand the frustration of others but my advice is to keep yourself busy, write, take photos, film something with your phone, take a vacation, or take up meditation, if you can't continue to use a tool you do currently have (including your brain) to be creative. The time will fly by and you will get your allocation and the world will once again be right ;)
 
assuming even with the 30 straight days of raven production it wont make it all the way to the February part of the timestamps (where i am haha) but once the month is over is it going to kind of be an even split in production for the cameras or is one camera going to take precedence again to fulfill a larger amount of one?
 
Scott, like Jarred said, companies shift production priorities and load balance based on demand all the time. We just happen to be transparent when it is a big needle mover like this one.

The good news is that the lines for WEAPON and SCARLET-W are dialed in. This big month of RAVEN will really accelerate the process for RAVEN line maturity - that extra month of SCARLET-W production really does mean a lot in this regard. So when we are in June, we will have three mature sets of production lines pumping, meaning optimal output and greater flexibility for that load balancing.

Thank you sir. I figured this would probably be the case since all three would have a chance to work out any kinks in their lines and have a chance to be the focus and become a mature line. As always appreciate what you guys do and for being straight up with this stuff. Can't wait to join the red community. Just out of curiousity was I right in assuming that huge chunk this month will take out of raven won't be huge enough to make it to say mid february? if thats too far out to answer no worries but even a conservative estimate would be appreciated haha
 
This is amazing! I am waiting for a Raven to go with my new DJI M600 and Ronin MX. Do you know if we ordered just the brain and à la carte accessories if we are in the same queue as the Raven IO packages? Thanks again for giving us on the Raven list a chance to catch up :-)

Now this doesn't mean we are going to catch up with all our Raven orders in May.. that is just simply impossible. But it should take one hell of a monster-huge bite out of the waiting list and give you Raven customers a well deserved bit of attention..

As for accessories, lots of good news ( again mostly with the result of our NAB push )

All 7" DSMC and DSMC2 LCD orders should be completely caught up by next Monday,

All Quick Release Platform orders should be completely caught up by this Wednesday .

All Battery Belt clip orders should be completely caught up by next Thursday.

All DSMC2 handles are now caught up.

DSMC2 Base Expanders are now caught up.

DSMC2 Jetpack Expandders and REDVOLT XL modules are also now caught up.

4.7" LCD's are caught up but new orders will be pushed out a few weeks since the influx of Raven package deliveries will be hoarding them. Same with V-Lock I/O expanders.

We are very proud of our recent success in hitting our ship dates... but we are also incredibly embarrassed at our failure to keep up with the demand and the painful que lines. So for all you Raven customers still waiting, thank you for your patience. Your day will now come a little sooner :)


O... I can imagine some Scarlet-W folks and some Weapon folks who may still be waiting for their cameras will not dig this message very much.... but we really need to give Raven a bit of love. I promise we will come back to you and hit your que with the same passionate vengeance after this.

For you Scarlet-W / Weapon customers that are waiting without the luxury of a backup camera and for whatever reason you haphazardly planned shoots in May because you felt you were very close to delivery , Brent has kindly offered to arrange a limited amount of Epic Dragon loaners for those of you you that really need to borrow a camera. Hit up your rep if that applies to you.

Thanks all. We are still a small little company making complicated things in Southern California and I hope this shows that we don't just care about the big dogs.. but the little ones as well. We love you all.
