  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

May Update... The month of Raven

Yeah yeah yeah. I know. I have full respect...only thing I'm entitled to is having what I was told and sold happen, as promised. I'm not hating, I'm disappointed. Wipe your brown nose.

Trevor, this week we are slammed, but you should hear back from your rep within one business day, yes.

Bret, I don't know what you are asking for here that I did not answer. I said if you wanted RAVEN, here is an ETA. If SCARLET-W, here is an ETA.

I missed that Brent. What are the ETA on those for me now?

Brent, is it typical to expect a couple days between replies from our reps? Had a Raven allocated early last week and it's taken quite awhile just to get a final tally so the credit card can be put through. It's fine though if they're just swamped over there. I'm anxious to get my little baby Red but I've got another here so I'm set.

Im having the same experience, at least a couple days each time, sometimes longer before I hear back, mostly simple questions. My rep seems to be pretty preoccupied.

No worries Brent
Thanks for the quick clarification.

Remember, the intent of this loaner program is to take care of those who were on the (relative) cusp of delivery. So, think very early SCARLET-W (first few days of orders, began taking orders Dec 10) or new WEAPON orders. An order for SCARLET-W in mid-Feb really is not in scope here.[/QUOTE]

Wow....there is a lot going on here....I am ready to Red but with enough experience to see that their customer service is great. Is VERY rare that "the big guys" talk directly with customers, so I appreciate what Jarred and Brent are doing here.
I am now filming with my Canon C100 Mark II at the moment but I planned for this summer to film some fashion stuff with the Scarlet W, I ordered via dealer in February, so hopefully wil arrive in time...but guys, se the positive side of it, with the time going the camera will be more "tested" so the few issues that the early SW owner are finding will be fixed...so we will not stress about it...Also it will look like waiting Christmas in summer.... :chillpill:

Since this thread is pretty brutal, I wanted to share a positive experience.

Had my S-W for almost 2 weeks now and I really like the camera - lovely images and really well thought out in terms of menu and design.

Obviously having Jarred and Brent on here is huge, but just as cool are the other people working for Red. Brittany and Luke at Red Hollywood are super helpful. My rep Clark is great as well. Went to the free S-W / Raven workshop and had all my questions on Black Shade and exposure answered by Luke. He’s super knowledgable and it’s a huge resource to be able to walk into the store or call, and pick his brain. Coming from Sony and Canon, it's nice to have real humans behind the product and not just a call center in a 3rd world country.

Incidentally, I (re)met Jordan Levy at the S-W / Raven workshop last night who finally got his Raven yesterday. STOKED for him! Did not make the connection until I saw Jordan’s face again, but I shot under him about a year ago. Jordan is an amazing DP who works on top-shelf, A-list projects. We can all learn tons from him and psyched to hear about his thoughts on Raven.

Sucks that many of you are stuck waiting, but I know Red is trying their hardest. I think the actual demand for the cameras caught them off guard. I guess when you drop the entry price, the flood gates open.

Waiting is okay but please don't announce a new sensor in 2016 ^^

I'm more curious about future pricing of MG upgrades, and what ever they have planned for the MX love they were talking about. My Epic is eligible for an upgrade, and i wonder if the price will ever go down, or package adjusted with new accessories.

People who ordered from dealers have received them, but nobody who directly ordered with a December 10th timestamp has come forward that I have seen. Since RED doesn't release what timestamp they are working on, I can't see how you would know otherwise unless you've seen a post that I haven't.

I'm not sure this is entirely accurate. I ordered from AbleCine and have not received my Scarlet-W yet.

June Update... The month of the dsmc2 side handle.

I vote we dedicate the whole factory to the side handle next :)

Because it is way way more efficient for all our lines to be making the same thing. This may seem like a weird thing to some of you but it's really how most big manufacturing works... they just never talk about it and you sit and wait and one day it seems like they go from super back-order into in stock and usually it stays that way.

the reality is if I didn't actually make this post... most of you probably wouldn't of noticed anything different except suddenly there were a lot more Ravens out in the world and there would a lot more Weapon/Scarlet-W people asking where there cameras are.

This all is not to far off of what happened last month, when we made an insane amount of Scarlet-W's and weapons at the expense of Ravens. I told you we were doing that, and a lot of Raven people were pissed just like right now a lot of Scarlet-W people are pissed. We raised the price of Raven to slow that down but that actually backfired a little.. because there was a whole shit ton of new orders that came in from people wanting to jump in before the price increase.

There is no shortage conspiracy because part shortages are always true.... We run out of pretty much everything on a weekly ( if not daily) basis, You guys see this because I have been laid down what we are making as we go along. We run out of Displays and Media and Sensors and Glass and accessories sometimes (god forbid) even screws. That is part of demand planning and that's what happens when you make almost everything custom. We are pretty good at managing that fluctuation but none of that matters when we only have so many lines and can only build so many cameras per day and when things like this happens when we get way, way, way more orders than we planned.

As much as the Scarlet-W guys are upset right now.. the Raven guys have gotten the short end of the stick in allocations since we started shipping Ravens, specially the ones that didn't switch to Scarlet-Ws.

Thanks Jarred,
Speaking for myself only, I'll get my Raven when it arrives at my door steps. All I really care about is for Red to put a lot of love in it during the assembly.
I saw the Raven at NAB and could not be more impressed with it. So take your time guys, don't cut any corners to crank them out, we will all live through it.

I'm not sure this is entirely accurate. I ordered from AbleCine and have not received my Scarlet-W yet.
Yeah, some dealers have been able to fulfill, but we haven't heard of a lot. The main point was just that the only people RED has shipped Scarlet-Ws to are people who switched from RAVEN. No day 1 orders, no Scarlet Dragon upgrades. This might seem minor but it adds to the frustration because there was absolutely no mention of RAVEN switcher priority on Dec 10 (with a March ship date) when myself and many others placed our orders. So we already had to deal with the reality that a ton of people were going to be allocated ahead of us, and just when I'd thought "well, they are almost done. Hopefully they'll be onto us next. The worst is over!" suddenly this post pops up and is literally a guaranteed one month halt of fulfillment. Just when we were thought we were on the cusp of being allocated. In a way, it kind of does feel like I got trick-fucked.

Brent and Jarred - For a company that bends over backwards to communicate with and treat your customers fairly, you sure do have to deal with a lot of unfair shit. Kudos for doing it with such calm and aplomb.
