If they are an official RED dealer, I'll bet that your deposit is 100% refundable, just like if you had ordered from RED. I'd find out and then shop around to see if you can find one that you can get sooner. Nobody wants to wait longer than they have to...waiting sucks!

I've just had a third dealer tell me that dealers don't have time stamps and that they are contacting Red for an estimate on their last order but not to expect shipping before the end of summer. They don't seem to be trying to trick me (unlike Samy's) so do they truly not know? Maybe they don't think of time stamps but Brent just pointed out to use that behind the scenes that's how the order goes with fulfilling? It's a little confusing.

I'm not entirely sure how this how works, but what I do know is that retailers (if they placed preorders) are in the same line as anyone else. They way I understand it, retailers are like those guys that camp out at the front of the ticket line for popular movies and then buy tickets for all their friends, who then get to skip the line. In the case of RED dealers, you and I are the annoying people that get to join their friends at the front of the line. But it only works if our "friend" actually has tickets. Assuming the friend has 50 tickets he gets to choose who gets what ticket and in what order his friends are admitted into the theater. If your dealer doesn't have Preorders they are 'mistakenly' thinking that they'll be snuck into the theater by their cousin that works at the popcorn counter. I wouldn't count on this if I were you.

You can probably call and see if Samy's has a preorder. But they won't tell you how many units or when the order was placed because they don't have Samy's permission to give out that information. You have either call Samy's and get as much info from them as possible or sit on your hands and hope for the best. The one thing you want to avoid doing at all costs is distracting the people at Red from the task at hand, which is getting my camera built!:nono:

I was at the RED HQ just over a week ago for Partner Training. We were told the same thing as it relates to delivery times. As I mentioned before, if a dealer didn't place a stocking order they are looking at long delivery lead times. I can assure you that the RED crew is working to support both their Partner Network and those who placed orders direct.

My expectation is that once they work through the month of RAVEN, we should begin to get a better understanding of lead times.

I don't think RED will chime in here on a public forum regarding the above request. My suggestion is that you contact your Bomb Squad rep and ask the question and see if they have a stocking order. Beyond that I don't believe they will share where they stand in the que.

I'm curious too as I switched my order to Samy's. I assume they placed their ordered early on as both my RED rep and Samy's rep told me I would get it sooner if I switched to them, so I am trusting it will come soon. They even had the RED event there few months back, so I'm sure they wouldn't lead ppl on. I also asked them when they think the cameras will come, they just said "We're getting our first batch soon." So I'm just being patient.

Hello All, First time comment. Jumping from a GH4 to a Scarlet-W... I just started as a Cinematographer 3 years ago and never thought I would have a chance to join the RED family this early. I put my deposit down with RED directly and also with a local dealer that thinks they can get me my camera sooner. Both Deposits were placed 1 month ago, so I am patiently waiting and understand that mine won't be here until Fall. Until then I love seeing you all get yours! please keep posting when your camera arrives!
