  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Major Announcement- July 6th

I wouldn't worry about the patent drawings. Patent drawings are almost always as non-specific to the final design as they can be while still maintaining the function described.

Come on Jarred.... get a few beers into you and do your usual late night postings. We need some hints.

Plus then we can all enjoy the show when it's Jim yelling at you, rather than Brent.

This is a new product category.

I don't know why but I always assumed the secret Jim project would be from a totally new company. But apparently its a new product category for RED. So either:

(1) this is something revolutionary in video/stills that is mass marketable, or
(2) RED is expanding into a totally new market.

I'd go with #2 which is pretty interesting. Is this a moment like Apple expanding from Mac to iPod?

Holographic communicator? Panoramic sensor with close focus capability and holographic projection display so good that it's as if the person were right there. Just a guess, no idea what it might be. Honestly, I would want an affordable 100mp+ camera for stills with optional 4K/8K video. The Hasselblad is just too much. :/

It's clearly a functioning PK Meter

Thinking backwards, Jim's goal was a pocket size 3K camera costing $3K. Eventually it did not go to production, but maybe Jim did not neglect the idea. In this sense, a phone equipped with a good sensor and a proper lens mount would not be that big surprise ...

Is there a clue in the launch date?

July 6th is the anniversary of.......?

That's how I got into Red in the first place, I still REALLY need a small ENG absurdly good camera

OK... just because you guys are trying so hard.

1. It is not world peace. I wish we could deliver. 2. It is not energy related. We will leave that up to Elon Musk. 3. It is not time travel. That is just not going to happen. 4. It is not saving wildlife. Although I am fully engaged in that cause. 5. It is not VR... which I think is as obsolete as 3D. No one has just acknowledged this yet. 6. It is not AR... which I think is doomed because no one wants to wear a headset. Think about it.

Every once in awhile everything changes. That's what we have.

In 2006 I asked everyone to trust me. We delivered 4k on a compact flash card for $17,500 when Sony was selling 1080P for $225K to an SR deck.

Once again, I am asking you to trust me.

Jim

Thanks for this Jim/Robert. Have to say, if (parts of) it fit in my pocket - like the patent seems to offer http://www.newsshooter.com/2017/06/28/red-announcement-modular-camera-system-cellphone/ - and at a price point similar to (better than?) the once-promised Scarlet, I will be one very happy camper. Go RED!

July 6, 2017 is actually the 70th anniversary of the Roswell UFO Crash......the day the wreckage was first witnessed.

RED has alien technology :)
