  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Major Announcement- July 6th

Any idea what it will be? I'm guessing a medium format stills camera for their 10 year anniversary.

Maybe not since it's Jim's announcement. That might come from Jarred?

Exciting post. Can't wait to figure out what this is about. Wonder if any of the wild speculations from the original thread will on out ;-)

Man, I was just about to start living like an adult.

Are we talking 1000-4000.00 style have your credit card ready or more like call into your bank and get your debit card limit raised above 10k ready? ha

Two clues here:

He did say credit card. To me that implies somewhere under $5k for the base camera, usable by adding a lens.

He also said, "You need to tell everyone you know to be online."

Now, I doubt that means your clueless friend who loves her smartphone and will use nothing else for a camera, ever.

But it certainly does imply that anyone who's interested in cameras, especially a combination of stills and video, should pay attention.

If you remember, Jim has always wanted to take on Sony head-on. The A9 feels like a challenge. Jim is someone who can't resist a challenge.

I wouldn't miss this for the world :).

If I were to guess, it's something with RED DNA, possibly like the original fixed-lens Scarlet design but with higher resolution. Since that's exactly what I wanted from RED when I was dreaming about getting a camera back in the day with the first Scarlet announcement, maybe that's wistful thinking :).

I will be watching with rapt attention July 6th :).

This is a new product category. Not an upgrade or replacement for your RED camera.

and here goes another *update thread*... stay tuned for 300+ pages in 2 weeks :)

Whatever it is, I probably already can't afford it - I just executed my open order for Scarlet-W. :001_unsure:
